Have to admit I haven't progressed much in the last few days with my plane I have too many things going right now.
I did however start to build a semi-scale drop tank rail to be mounted to the underside of the wing. The kit does not come
with one and it would be a shame to mount this tank to the underside of the wing without something. I went through some
scale pics and drawings and came up with the basic shape. Like I said it is semi-scale so don't go ballistic on me.
Here is a pic after the first glass and epoxy layer.

My gear looks exactly like the ones in the pic, and has the correct angle machined into the strut for the axle.

Yesterday morning I ordered the Sierra retracts w/ the options.....
Anyone want me to post pics when they come in?

Ordered the Iierra Retracts Friday am and they came in today! The kit retracts got here Fridsay. Attached are some pics of the two sets. The Sierra retracts are, not surprisingly, much sturdier and better-machined and wll undoubtedly do a better job for me as I fly off grass that's not particularly smooth. Plus the looks! LOL But the kit retracts sure look like they're adequate to the task. "you pays yer money and you takes yer choice...." as the man says.

To me it looks like the KMP struts are actually more scale in appearance than the Sierras except for the stroke distance. Every FW-190 I have
seen has fairly straight gear not tapered and does not have scissors.

Hey dvs1

The Fw-190 does have scissors of the full sized one, but your right, the legs do not taper down

thanks

dave.

P.S. did you take that pic of the Fw at Duxford? if so, we would have been there winthin day of one another because i understand that she was only there for a short period of time.

No, I think I got that pic off RCU I have just searched the internet for pics for technical reference. Wish I had seen the one in the pic though, because I would have taken about at least 300 digital pics.

No probs mate!

Yeah, I nearly jumped out of my skin when i heard one of the guys who worked there say there was something special in hanger 3

Unfortunately, because it was a flying aircraft, the access arround her wasn't as good at the static display aircraft, and so it was a little harder to get great shots of her with my equipment.

Some more for you to enjoy.

thanks

dave
