I just found s.p.a.d. A little late huh!
I like it a lot.
Where else can someone who lands like I do afford to stay in this hobby. LOL.
One of my favorite planes is a SPA3DT. My son is peeved that I would fly "That flying junk"
A used 4 mm coro realtors sign cost $0
Sk 50 engine $60.00
Futaba faast radio $203.00
5 hitec 425 servo's $75.00
aluminum tubing, pool noodles, blue electrical boxes, super glue and assorted hardware $50.00
A very fine 3d trainer
I was so impressed
I needed more.

Add 16 48x24 2mm coro, and 12 16x48 4mm coro $124.00 delivered to my door from regal plastics in Phoenix.
A little slice of heaven.

spad 4 me oh yea baby
This is my total cost to date.

I have built more spads
1 sk 50
1 fasst receiver/6v2000mah battery
5 425 hitec servos.
approx $10.00 of coro.

spad4mebaby,

Welcome to the wonderful world of fantastic flying plastic!!!

Wait until you get the looks I did, when I put a $200 Saito 72 on a $12 Debonair! The razzing usually stops once I give them the transmitter and they get to "slip the surly bonds" with coro!

What's next on your build list?

Blue skies,

DL

The retracts were a nice touch on that one as well DL. Welcome to the forum. How old is your son? Is he he still young enough to know everything? I haven't known every thing for some time now and haven't flown balsa since.

I jump in and out of this hobby.
The brands I used last K&B and Kraft.LOL
The next spad will probably be a Kloud King Coro Clone with see through body panels, plastic notebook covers.
My son is a balsa bigot who is relieved I am finally starting to build planes that look like planes. He did not like the SPA3DtT or my version of a stick, 48 inch RNAF wing, lightweight.1/64 th metal tube, 4mm coro tailfeathers, cutting board motor and landing gear mount. He likes the corowot low wing (he wanted it to look like a mock fighter plane. paint and scale fake 50 cal guns.)
My son is 18 years old. He has offered to take me into the desert to fly the SPA3DT, and the stick.

He does want a Coro edge (SK 90 or a Tower 75 for more power than necessary) I am trying to get him to build it himself.

I think retracted wheels make a model more efficient and really good looking.
Clean lines and all.
My radio has an extra channel. 6 channel with aileron flap mixing ch 1 ch 6.
Leaving chanel 5 open for any toggled use, I am going to try an atf diesel mix into a 1/8 copper coil I have installed in the muffler. ------Smoke em if you got em.-----
Are you using air ( $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) or mechanical ($$) retracts?

The "retracts" he was refering to was during a round of "SPAD bowling" and I pancaked in and tore off the main gear.

I actually meant to do that, so that increased the "cool pilot dude" factor to 18 on a scale of 1-10...

He's just jealous that he couldn't do it too...

Let's see, First SOTex we had DL's reverse action retracts, Second was Fantzy's F-16 water landing without floats along with Globe's swimming girl friend. What will it be in Nov. at SOTex Fall?

spad4me, He's only 18, wait till he has to start paying the bill. He'll be at your door asking," So tell me again about those coro planes you fly." Sorry about the inside joke there. I should have explained.
