hi,

i bought today belt cp, and i'm quite new to helis (i have some expirience with lama v3).
i didn't find anywhere on the manual what the pit.hov dails do. so what are they and how should i set them?

?

Ok here are some pics of what im talking about, Put all trims to center on the controller (TX) accept the throttle, that is al the lowest point (the stick and the trim) then turn on the tx, then power up the heli. After the gyro sets up slap the pitch guage on and look down the blade twards the flybar. Keep the flybar and the top of the pitch guage even (threw line of sight) Now look at the pointer the number is your 0 stick pitch, should be 0 or -1 if it is lower than -1 you need more positive pitch. You need to do this on both blades get the numbers as close as possible! If you have a lack of pitch you will need alot more head speed to acheave lift off causing the battery to drain vary fast. Basicly more pitch (to a point) = less work for the motor. In the pics is also another little set up tool called the swashplate leveler, thease 2 things save alot of time on setups and trouble shooting!

For the full head I would recommend buying from hoooby.com or best hobby site has them for cheaper than helidirect
http://www.besthobbysite.com/shop/index.php?cPath=410&page=2
HobbyJapan2000 also has the head assembly parts for cheaper than helidirect
http://www.hobbyjapan2000.com/store/products.php?cat=62&pg=2
I have ordered from all 3 stores and never had a problem with any of them.

I decided to just stick with stock plastic replacement parts at the moment. I got a few hints that I may be getting a 3DX500SE for christmas so I want to save my money for electronics if it is infact that gift.WHOOOPIEEE

The replacement esc I would recommend for this heli would be a hobby wing 30A. It works extremely well, same cost as esky esc, and has several programing options including program card.

It sounds like the short flight time issue is directed towards the batteries. What charger are you using? If you are using an esc other than Esky it could be set for the wrong lipo and cutoff is at much higher voltage. The pitch of your blades could be wrong, or the amp draw is killing your batteries based on the pinion, belt tension etc...

I have a new belt cp with the stock 11.1v 1800 lipo battery. When hovering (the only thing I can do right now), about 2-1/2 minutes into the hover the heli loses power to the point that I have to give 3/4 or more trottle to keep it hovering (it also become real sluggish). Thinking it was the battery, I bought a new 11.1v 2100 lipo pack, fully charged it and the same thing happens. I would hope that I could get more than a couple of minutes of air time.

My friend has the same heli and set up and he gets 8-10 minutes before any loss of power.

Any thoughts of what it could be.

Also remember that you can over discharge LIPO's if not careful. Unlike previous battery technologies (like NiMH or NiCAD), you dont run lipo's until they cant spin the motor.
When using a lipo, you fly until it STARTS to loose power, then let cool and recharge. If you fly a lipo until all you can do is remain in ground effects you will end up toasting the battery.

shop around for these helicopters some sell for as high as $210 and some as low as $180 in the US and some have free shipping too. Am still trying to figure out my first good heli after FP but the prices vary so much. Same holds true for the HB King helicopters as far as pricing.

"Belt CP" Well I have one of these now in the mail. After the AXE fiasco, this should be a welcome change for the better. Ordered it from the same guy I bought the HDX from.

I really like my belt cp, i've got a stock one up and running in stable hover, still putting my cf version together (waiting for the rest of the cnc parts). the belt cp is much more stable in the wind than the king2 (was out flying both today).

I had about 10 flights onthe AXE when the head blew. I almost bagged this Belt CP and just finish the HDX but i want the HDX to be rather nice. From what i went through on the AXE, the simple fact that the Belt is belt drive will eliminate some aggravation caused by the rear motors of others. We'll see.

the only thing on the belt cp that i'm flying now that I plan to change is the gyro, i'm putting a holding head gyro on it instead of the stock rate gyro.

Well..sorry to say yet another noob here lads...
Been running nitro and 2 stroke trucks for about 9 yrs and just recently got into helis...
First up with a lama v4 which i became pretty decent with in a few weeks.
Now the belt cp is a completly different story....im definatly not good with new stuff and still struggling to come to terms with the whole pitch, setting up and maintanance side of the hobby.
Im taking it really slow but this drifting to the left on takeoff is a struggle...currently running mode 1 which i think isnt helping.
Trying to keep a constant hover and lean it to the right is at the very least frustrating.
Once she get up to a decent speed and i get some hight under those skids this should improve i hope...
cheers and a HUGE thanks to all you that pass on info to us noobs....
Without you most of us would give it up pretty quickly..

You know, I seem to find that there are a lot of complaints about any electric rc heli out there. And for wanting to get into this hobby as bad as I do, its starting to scare me! I think that the belt cp is probably the best choice because of price and the fact that it comes with a brushless motor and esc. and lipo batt. But there seems to be a lot settings on the copter itself and if you have a computer radio------- tech talk that i just dont get yet. I mean I understand exponetial and dual rates but other than basic airplane programing, I lost. I hope that stuff is all covered in the manual when I get the copter. And if not, I hope that there is a dvd or something to learn off of.
