If you are referring to a transmitter for model aircraft, that is what is in most of the now. They are just all hooked together rather than depending on pressure contacts.

This should be no problem in a car transmitter. For a plane it could be risky as pressure contacts can sometimes open up for an instant if the transmitter is bumped.
