sanyo's supposed to be a really good brand. For most packs they are considered the standard. ANywho, I've got some 2300mAh sanyo's that are about 4 years old and I use them in everything and they have held up very well =)

I think the Energizer 2500mah NiMH batteries are good quality ones. I have 16 of them and they are relatively inexpensive and you can find them everywhere. Check around local stores such as big box store for good prices; you may even find them with rebates!

(I'm referring to the AA ones. The D ones I'm suspecting that they may not be of the same quality and they are so light for their size and of cheaper construction.)

Energizer no longer manufactures Ni-Mh batteries having sold the facility in 1999. Any Ni-Mh they may be offering are brokered from another manufacturer. The source of these batteries may change from time to time. Energizer, being heavily committed to primary batteries, markets these only as a defensive maneuver.

Sanyo cells are used in the premium quality batteries on the market, which is why they are featured by the leading suppliers to the hobby market, Radical R/C and NOBS Batteries.

Radio Shackup and some other vendors put the SAME rechargeable battery in different cell housings
this tricks the typical customer into thinking they have actually purchased a larger cell - nope - just a larger can
avoid all this crap -
if you can't get the impedance rating - don't buy it --unless --it is for toys or a Tx -something with low power draw.

I used the silverish Energizers in my digital camera. What a load of rubbish, was thinking of using it in my R/C equipment. The Energizers lost capacity faster than the credibility of a politician.

Stick to Sanyo Cadnica.

Sanyo AA have been top notch for a long time. GP have worked well for me too. Now, if I could find a long lasting AAA cell that met it's full specification, I'd say so! You may gather I have a problem with these packs for my small skinny gliders, where AA just won't fit!

I had been very happy with Energizer aa NiMH batteries for years...
Until I bought a bunch of their latest 2500 mAh cells

The 2500mAh cell completely self discharge in about 3 weeks

All my previous experience with NiMH and NiCd, cells hold their charge for many months, even up to a year.

You are seeing the impact of buying cells from the lowest price manufacturer. It is not in Energizers best interest to support rechargeable technology.

Buy Sanyo cells and stop crying about the price. Batteries are the only thing keeping you from crashing. Spend a few cents now or spend several dollars on a black plastic bag to put the pieces in later.

I'd definately listen to that bit of advice from someone who spent many many years in the biz =)

I'm not a fan of energizer rechargables at all.... I mean don't get me wrong, they work ok, and will get the job done in most instances. They market 15 min chargers though for these packs, that's just crazy talk =P The batteries come off those chargers so hot you can't even hold them. I charged some energizers at a 1c charge rate and they came off at 120F where as my sanyo's are more like 95F, same capacity and charge rate.

Hiaboo, I'm testing some of these Sanyo Eneloop nimh packs right now:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sanyo-Eneloop-NIMH-Rechargeable-AA-Batteries-GESHR3UTG8BP/sem/rpsm/oid/159047/catOid/-12929/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

I've made two 4-cell packs, and they are consistently showing 1900-2000 mah with a 500 mah load (your mileage may vary).

Be careful of the Eneloop batterys. They have a very high impedance and would not be good in a high current installation.

Are you sure this datasheet is eneloop? Looks like the standard HR series.

BTW .025 ohms to me is a good high current AA cell
