Perhaps all those stories you read about with regards to the motorsaver filters are correct.

Please do not use these on any motor you care about. I have seen many come apart on the track allowing dirt into the motor. I've also seen a couple that did not come apart but still let dirt in.

a lot of people run motorsavers and i don't think i've once heard of anyone having problems with them, the motorsaver should be fine.

as for the clearance i personally would like a bit more, but whats there is enough.

are you still running stock gearing? if so try putting a 36 tooth spur gear on instead of the stock 38, that will open it but more again.

Thanks again ttoks. I think I got the 38 on there, not sure. I will double check. I think I might have a 36. I'm going to order the Savage filter today. As I've said before I really need this engine to last so I want to give it the best chance. I'll give the engine a good cleaning, a good oiling and then re-assemble it and see how it goes. I have got me some black rtv (high temp silicone based) and will seal up the back plate and the carb before I use it again.

Thanks for all the advise then.

Hey guys,

I siezed up my OS18 and now I want a new engine. I was looking at the RB TM523. My question is, will it work in an old .15 maxx with a FLM ICE Chassis. and also is This The same thing as This because looks like a good deal at tower if its the whole combo

Thanks

i don't know if it will fit in what you have but i do know that the tower link is just the motor and not the combo. the combo comes with the engine mount and complete exhaust. the combo sells for like $280.00.

Got a question on engine temps. I was running it again today and ran another 4 tanks through which takes me up to 19. I started leaning it out, but strange thing is when I do that it doesn't want to run properly. It keeps cutting out at WOT. So I richen it up again and it then runs like it's way too rich, with tons of smoke coming out and terrible pikcup and revving. As the tank get's emptier and the standard Revo tank lean comes into play, it starts to run like a banshee. Lifting the front wheels and generally awesome, but this is only when the tank is almost empty.

When I lean it it's only by about a quarter turn. During all this, I struggle to get the temps above 180F. The only way I can get to run the engine hotter is by using one of my son's old socks over the head. Then it runs up to 240F and I even saw 250F, as soon as I take it off, back down to around 180 again. The temps we were running in today were around 10C / 50F. I had to run with the body off though as I moved my tank way forward to try and cure the left turn lean issue. Question is, what should I do to get this thing running right. I must also admit to being slightly disappointed in the performance.

As for that, it did help, but very slightly, it's still there but not as bad. I can't wait for my Tekno tank conversion kit and the MBX-5T tank to come in. Here is a pic of my tank 'mod'.

Alrighty then. I went for good track session on Sunday. Only had one issue, one that I have never had before. While driving the truck it started sounding a little rough and then it died. I thought the fuel had run out so went to go and retrieve it. Back at the pits I topped it up and saw that it still had a quarter tank in. Topped it up anyway and went to start it, then I realised that the glow plug had fallen out???????

Fortunately the track was really wet so no dust or dirt went in and I was running quite slowly with the body on. Needless to say I flushed it with nitro cleaner anyway and turned the truck upside down to clear it of any gunk that may have go in there. It all looked nice and clean so I whacked a new glow plug in and carried on running.

I know that I checked and tightened the glow plug, I have however had the plug come loose on me before a couple of times just running on the drive. I noticed that if you tighten it down when cold, when the engine expands it gets loose. And if you then tighten it down when hot, you cannot undo it without heating the engine up when it's cold.

Have any of you noticed this? This is my first turbo plug engine so not sure what the correct procedure is for these plugs.
