I need help on setting up a YS60RF in my Bridi Escape:

The two nipples on the side...which is pressure and which is fuel in?

What fuel line set-up is used...2 or 3 lines/ Fuel dots? How to re-fuel?

Fuel...5%, 10%, oil 20%

Anything else?

Thanks,

Rich Ernst

Here is a link to the YS 45 manual...The 45 is the 60's little brother...Will give you an idea on the plumbing and check valve orientation ect...
http://www.geistware.com/rcmodeling/glowpower/ys45.htm

On the Bridi Escape...Your going to have access to the engine/fuel lines...Correct?? If so you could just plumb using two lines...

When it comes time to re-fuel or at the end of a flight....You would disconnect the "Pressure" line first to bleed the pressure off the tank prior to disconnecting the "Fuel" line...(Don't worry...You'll only forget that once or twice...he he..Then you'll remember)

Have Fun...

Chuck

Sounds and looks a lot like my "old" YS140.

Yes, it only took a few times to remember to bleed the tank after a flight (g).

Thanks for the info

Rich

I've got the Operator"s Manual for the YS 61R-AR and the 61 Long. The instructions should be the same as the 60. PM your e-mail to me and I can scan the front side(it is just a single page printed front and back) and e-mail it back to you. The back side is just an exploded parts view and listing of parts.

I just looked at the link above about the YS45. The fuel hook up is the same as the 61s I have and I'm sure the same as your 60.

Just to clarify something....The manual I have linked is for the "YS 61LS"...Even though the "picture" is of a 60...If you'll notice the parts list shows the 61 with the square head ect....

I wanted to clarify this as you said you have a YS 60....That engine should have a round head and be a short stroke design...So the RPM and propeller info would be different...As well as the parts list is no good....

You may already know that...I just wanted to be sure...he he

teamvortex, I'm planning to come and watch you guys. I probably won't fly, though. I have not progressed to point of flying in the competition. I am practicing some basic maneuvers now with the Kaos I recently got from Tower. I read somewhere that one needs to start by being able to consistently fly a level pass each direction down the runway, turn around, and fly back level and parallel to the runway. Then put a loop or other maneuver in the runway pass. I'm doing some of that basic practice now. Maybe in a few months I might get my nerve up and give a contest their bottom score.

Oh, I thought I'd show you my goal when I do grow up. These are the two planes I have that are all ready with new engines and electronics just waiting for the day I feel good enough to fly them. I have flown the T2A about 20 times and the Atlanta is sitting on my workbench all checked out and ready to fly. I'm going to have Gordon McLean, an old pattern contest flyer who still puts on a pretty show with his Brushfire, take the Atlanta up for its first flight. Then I'll probably play with it a while. Nothing fancy at first, just around the pattern with an aileron roll and loop thrown in for fun. I went to the Hunstville BPA event back in August. Those guys really made me want to practice enough to be able to feel confident in flying one of these planes.

Airbusdrvr,

Wow. Those are two really pretty planes. Please bring them up with you.

Don't be shy about flying. The Kaos is a great starter. We all started with enough fear to fill a large jar before we went on the greater glory....or something like that. The Orlando get together is a fly-in and there will be lots of help. I'll call you through a flight if you want to.

Straight lines are the most obvious and hardest to master. I was practicing them yesterday because we had a cross wind that kept everyone else in the flight shed. Not a lot of fun, but necessary.

Rich

Chuck,

I didn't notice, but thanks. I'll work on propellor selection in the plane. I'm starting with either an 11-10 or 11-9 Zinger on 15% nitro and a 13 1/2" pipe. We'll see what happens. It took me about a dozen props to get the OS91FS dialed in on my Deception for SPA.

Thanks again for the help and advice,

Rich
