The red is glazing compound, the blue/green is a finishing putty, like Bondo
but a finer grade.

I can't remember what weight the cloth was, Kurt brought it over.

I finished blending everything together. I will prime and do final sanding
when I am ready to paint.

Minor update.

Slacking off I didn't get my parts ordered until last week so I don't have
a lot to do!

I cut open the rear of the top deck once the canopies were glued and
something I kept forgetting was to pin the canopy attachment tabs with
1/8" dowels.

The parts should be here on Thursday or Friday and I can complete the
wheel pants, tail wheel, and do a final fitting with all the hinge points.

Then final sanding and covering!

One more problem, Fromoco is out of Li-ion batteries do to a world wide
shortage and the prices have gone way up. I figures, I just got an ion cube
last fall.

I think I have decided to copy this scheme for my plane. I have drawn
a blank making up one for myself. Now the dreaded decision Mono or Ultra!

Kurt needs to choose his soon!

I vote Ultra! Here is my Yak covered with the stuff. I really like the way the ultra kote shrinks. You can pull it around curves with out it getting thin like monokote. These pictures were taken on the day I did my maiden flight.

I've had great results with ultracote and as long as you go with light colors you shouldn't have any problems.

Yes it is cub yellow, silver and white. I had picked up some of the regular yellow ultra and it was just too light. The plane shows up in the air great.

Hey Kelly,

Ask Dave about Monokote. There have been lots of threads about how the formula has changed and it is inconsistent. I last used it on that P-47 I sold. The stuff is really crappy now. I went back to using Ultracote. Much better, easier to go around curves and shrinks much better.

OK, well I've read this whole thread now, haha. I don't want to hijack it or anything, but for those of you who didn't know, I moved to Bangalore, India to take up a chief UAV designer and test pilot job. Anyway, I'm coming to the US next week, March 19th-27th, for a visit. My 40% Yak is sold, but my RadioCraft is all ready to roll, so if any of you fellow MD'ers wanna fly some when I get back, let me know. This thread is awesome by the way, and it reminds me why I buy ARF's for the most part, haha.

Kely,
I really lie that scheme. It was one I looked at alot when I was looking for one. Notice I even used the IMAC and DA ideas.

So you moved to the geek capital of the world. I am supposed to have trip over to Chennia sometime this year. You should head over to Bombay that is the happening place according to a friend of mine who's from India. How long have you been over there? Man, hat is a long way for a job . At least you are coming next week as this weekend is supposed to rain.
