James,

I'm going to race in the Quickie 25 circuit that is forming in this area. I'll be going to any Club 40 and Quickie 25 races (2 pole or 3 pole) that are within 3-4 hours of Charlotte. So I'm up for racing in Honea Path. Since you have room, AMA 424 would be on my ticket as well. I'll be glad to work the course for 428/422 if we can get people for those classes.

If you can get a demo date set up for soon, I will bring the trailer with demo planes, pylons, and planes/engines for sale, to get the local crowd primed. Right now I'm free for most of the rest of the year.

One disclaimer about the Quickie 25 racing in this area. The same group that has been doing AT-6 racing is pushing the Quickie 25 format. They have only been running 3 rounds and then a final main in AT-6. If I'm going to travel I want to race at least 5 rounds. Everyone at my "races" has gotten at least 5 flights of racing in. While I'm for laid back racing, if I'm going to travel very far, I want to race enough for it to be worth the gas.

Sounds like a legit request Don. It is a buzzkill to drive 4+hours and only fly for 12 minutes.

Hey guys, count me in for racing any where within a about a 3 hour drive from Hickory, NC. It is rare that I have something on a Saturday or Sunday I can't get out of with enough notice. I'm really excited about all the racing; 2&3 pole, T-6, Quickie 25, Club 40, and 424.

I'll also echo Don's suggestions of having more heats, seems like a good idea _AND_ I'm really glad you'll be participating in the Quickie 25 racing.

James;

I'd love to come and race with you guys. I now race AMA 424 and Club 40 and a type of Warbird. I would convert one of my 424 planes to a 25 engine if you were to have that class. It's a long drive from Nashville, but not any farther than I've driven for a good race before. Mid-December '07 would be good for me also. You want a date; how about Dec 15-16, 2007. As far as I know there aren't any other races that would conflict this date. It would pay to do a more thorough search though. Set the date ASAP. Race 424, Club 40, Q-25, and other classes like 428, 422 etc. over two days. Call it something like the "2007 South-East Blow-Out Race". I'll be glad to help in the classes where I'm not racing. It's likely I could bring another helper. Let's do it.

Guys, give James some encouragement; he's willing to organize a race!!!!!!! This is a gift.

For those of you that don't know me, I put on Sempra and 428 races in my area for years. I know how to run a race.

But first---let me get the approval from my club before I go any deeper.

Just to let everyone know, there won't be much help from the club. It will be up to the people that come to help with everything.

I will contact the club president tonight and post more asap.

James

Tommy,

That's great. I thought you were hooked.

I'm looking forward to the racing and fun in the area. I'm sure James will enjoy having some local competition.

I'll be coming to any races and/or practice days I can in the Greenville/Spartanburg area.

Don,
Are you coming to the swap meet in Hickory this weekend? I have a kitchen pass to fly afterwards.

James - Just for fear it all comes together on your end, I've marked December 15th on my calendar as "pylon racing in G-ville". I'm happy to help any way I can . . . just tell me what you want.

I also brought my club-40 plane to our club meeting last nite (Caldwell Aero Modelers (CAM)). Several of the guys were very interested. We have approval to setup a three pylon practice course at the field. We don't have enough room to host a 3-pole race, but we can practice at our field. Vic & I will get a 348x100x348 course shoe horned into our field. Be happy to have anyone interested in "practicing" come and join in. It will be on a Saturday . . . I'm sure Vic can post that info.

Vic,

I didn't know about the swap meet. If I don't go to Texas, and you think it would be a good idea for me to come, I'll bring a boatload of Sky Raider Mach II's to sell.

Don - if you want a table or two go to WHAM's site at wham-rc.org, there is a link to sign up for tables.

Not sure if it would make sense to plan on selling a bunch till guys see what they are in action, but feel free to come up. Just being the simple voice of reason not a nay-sayer.
If you choose to come up Seth will buy you a hamburger

It would be fun to fly up at CAM and you could give pointers on how to set-up a course. I invited crazy Dave too.

I have no clue since it is the first time they are having one. I would think it will be pretty decent since the most recent good one was back early in the spring over in Burlington (3 hours east) and before the one down south. I won't get there till after noon but figure I can snag a clearance deal or two.
Honestly I should clean out my shop with a table myself. I'm just not old enough to start parting with things yet.

Tommy,

I ship stuff all the time. I try to get it out in a day or two max. UPS delivers next day for ground rates in NC and SC from Charlotte.

I have boxes for shipping Sky Raider Mach II and LA Racer 40 kits with room for an engine and accessories. I mainly keep stuff for supporting Club 40, but have sport ARF's, engines, etc.

If I can make the Hickory swap meet, I'm going to go. Right now it looks like I can't go to Texas because of job interviews.

Just so you guys know, I'm probably going to schedule another Pylon Race/Practice Day for November 17. Even if you guys can't make it, I need to get more of the local guys involved, and orientation will help more new guys get ready. Maybe I can get some more recruits in time for James' race if he gets to put one on. This will be Club 40, Quickie 25, and AT-6 only. I've thought about doing it as 2 pole, but I think 3 pole works best here.
