OK Guys. Since I seem to be on the list to be the CD of the race on Dec. 17, I would like to know just how many guys in this area have the Q-25 planes. I have experimented with my TT40 on my 424 plane. Using an APC 9X8 brings the RPM down to 12,500 to 13,000. The speed slows down about 25mph. I haven't tried it with a 10X7 or 10X8. This brings the speed down to the C-40 plane.

From what I saw with the Q-25 planes at Don's, this speed would be about equal. 424 planes with higher pitch props Verses Q-25. The Q-25 planes fly as fast as the C40 planes.

What I am getting at is--why buy a 25 engine when all we need to do is use the .40 engine and put a bigger prop on it.

I am watching the forums very closely to decide just what we will do at my race. Too many rules will drive people away.

When it is no longer fun--------------I'm out of it.

I have no opinion on this since I have all three and am good to dance anytime.

James,

The Quickie 25 thing is being driven by the group that had been flying the AT-6's along the I-40 corridor in central NC. They have decided to use the OS 25FX on Quickie 500 airframes. I don't know for sure, but I think they are also specifying the APC 8x6 prop.

Many other groups around the country have or are using 25's on Quickies as well.

I am going to participate in the Quickie 25 racing because I have used an OS 25FX on a Quickie a lot for demonstrations in the past and it is a good formula in terms of performance for newcomers.

I personally think that Club 40 is going to grow faster in this area. As some of the guys will find out, ripping landing gears out of Quickies is way too common with pizza cutter wheels on less than perfectly smooth grass runways. The Club 40 planes are much more forgiving on landing, they taxi in and out of the pits, they don't have the V-tail intimidation factor, and they use standard servos. But I'm not going to try to stop the Quickie 25 effort.

For your race, Club 40 with TT Pro 40 and AMA 424 are enough if there aren't enough Quickie 25 participants. I registered www.quickie25.com today and I will get the rules posted as soon as possible. The link is already active. I just have to add the rules.

Vic posted while I was writing. I'm also in for 424, Club 40, and Quickie 25 for your race on 12-15.

James;

I'm sure you meant Dec 15, not Dec 17. Is the race in fact on, or is official club approval still pending?

I'm wondering if you should just run C40, and 424 and state that if there are enough Q-25 planes, then you will run them. If you don't get firm commitments beforehand, from enough Q-25 pilots, then no Q-25. It's very likely you would get enough C40 and 424 entries in any case.

For myself, I will fly 424 and C40 with TT Pro 40 engines in both. If you are definitely having Q-25, then I would put one together for your event. It looks like I'll bring along a helper or two also.

Sorry about that Doug. I did mean Dec.15. Practice day is on Nov. 17 at Dons house.

I still don't have club approval, but I would be very surprised if I didn't get it. It's a small club and we need the money just to pay for the grass mowing.

Don and I are getting together and trying to figure out where we are going to get the things we need to run a race. We have the pylons and Bill is getting us his turn lights. There is no electricity, so I am trying to find a generator to borrow. Anyone know where we can get fuel donated?

It looks like 424, C40, and Q25--IF enough Q25 show up.

Don is setting up a preregistration web site so we can get an idea of how many will come.

There is a lot to do in a short time.

I could get Bill J. and Probably Marcus B. to put on a Q-40 demo for us. Possibly a 3 plane 428 demo.

James - I would _love_ to see a Q-40 and 428 demo!!! I don't know why others have not commented on this? I would be willing to make the trip _just_ for the demo flying! - Seth

Seth, seeing a Q40 plane go around the poles is something to remember. I have called for Bill several times during 4 plane heat races. It is amazing to see the control these guys have at 200 mph. A caller is just as important as the pilot. The pilot is a very busy person during the race.

Suck up!!!
You know I want to see it too.

I got the best of the caller in the world. He is happy to see me win even when we are racing each other.

What kind of fuel do you want? I will see what I can accomplish.

I have more good news. The Hobby Connection in Easley will donate 4 gallons of Cool Power 15% fuel. He will also donate some T-shirts and hats to give away.

We will need a generator. A co-worker of mine will let me use his for the race. Don can now use the computer for the scoring or whatever. Things are coming together.

Vic, we wouldn't turn down some more fuel. Just in case 4 gallons are not enough.

It's going to take all of us to make this race happen.

Vic,

Just so you know, the RCPRO Board of Directors is working on the Club 40 engines and classes issue.

It is highly likely that the RCPRO Club 40 Racing Gold class will continue to be based on using 424 engines, or similar .40 sport engines.

So disregard the class names in my flier for the 11-17-07 event. If any guys show up with .46 engines, they will race separately from the "Gold" guys with the TT Pro 40's and ST GS-40's. So you're still golden.

Vic,

So you and others know ... I have more TT Pro 40's now and should have some on hand at the 11-17 race day.

I also have something to send to you that probably won't fit in your PO box. Send me an email with your shipping address.
