Has anyone seen or have experience with both of these ARFs?

Just wondering how they compare, quality-wise, ease of building, etc. All I can tell from the photos on Tower and Horizon websites is the covering scheme differs slightly.

If not these particular planes, how about some comments about Phoenix vs. Seagull ARFs in general?

Thanks!

My Seagull Extra 260 Arf is wonderful, fantastic build quality, great hardware. The instructions blow, but who needs instructions anyways?

6 of one, half dozen another.
Expect to replace some hardware with either of them. Generally the build quality is average (meaning acceptable) for either brand.
Personally I prefer the Phoenix.

The problem with both models is that they need way more than the recomended power plant to get my juices flowing. That in return requires adding significant tail weight, which then makes the plane a big turd.

I had the Seagull Decathlon. Was a very well built plane and had no complaints with it at all. I powered it with an OS .46AX and that was more than enough power. The plane flew fast, incredibly quick snap rolls, great knife edge, good spins, etc. Using that engine kept the plane light and nimble. Another engine to consider would be the OS .50SX. with a little more power and about the same weight. Read alot of posts on this plane and about the only thing you gain by adding a monster engine is the ability to say "Sick power" - or - "unlimited vertical", both at the expense of good handling. I kept the prop down in the APC 10x6 range to keep the speed up on the plane and that seemed to work out the best.
