Well I really wasn't all that pleased w/ the HL based rig I had built, so about 99% of it is gone.

Old rig.

I pretty much started from scratch.

I decided that I wanted to have a combination leaf/4 link set up that would allow for more flex than I was getting from the HL's F/R leaf set up. I just wasn't happy w/ the performance it offered.

Also the HL tires SUCKED! As nice as they look, they just wouldn't hook up for me.

And, the HL frame rails weren't doing anything for me at all so they got tossed.

So w/ money being really tight the last few months I sold off most of the HL stuff, sold a lot of stuff I have sitting around on the work bench, and made some trades.

Still a work in progress, needs a few good hours of my attention to get finished up.

Here are the stats of the new rig.

Double J Trail Beater chassis (powder coated black).
TLT axles w/ bearings and R2J aluminum knuckles.
RC4WD R2 tranny (black)
Diaz leaf springs in front
4 link rear
R2J 80mm shocks (butter smooth)
HPI stock car wheels (black)
1.9 Mashers
06 WCC Chevy Extra Cab (gotta be a Chevy baby!)
Service bed
Working lights
Scale accessories
Electronics: MOPED ESC, Spektrum Rx, Hi Tech 645, TP 945 winch servo
55t Lathe
bla...bla...bla...

It's a roller, just need to finish installing the tranny, drive shafts, electronics, and like I said I'm still playing w/ the service bed.

Post up some pics if you have a particular bed style that you like, it might give me some inspiration.

I'm still pretty wet behind the ears w/ the scale stuff, I just can't semm to build one that I am happy with.

Enjoy and please let me have some feedback (positive or negative) on the build to this point.

On to the pics...

That is a great build! What do you think of the DD springs so far?

The details are awesome! carbon servo mounts, black anodizing, steering damper, Savage bumpers, drilled pinion shafts to accept TRX shafts...very well executed!

The fake cylinder on the servo arm is pure genius, I love it. Where did you get 1.9 mashers from? I didnt know they existed.

Hands, in the second to last pic, right rear tire shows(I think) that they are a cut and shut deal!!

Dez, Looks Killer!! Love to see what Ute Bed you come up with, Steering Ram link WAS genuis!!. The Savage bumpers just aren't doin' it for me bud. Looks they were made for a different truck, kinda distracting actually... IMHO

Great Start!!

Yeah, the 1.9 Mashers are a cut and shut job.

As for the bumpers, I like the front bumper, I might have a little something different for you to see soon!

I used the lights that come w/ the Savage bumpers and had PIAA decals made.

Little more work from tis weekend!

Wow, looks like Matt from Dinky R/C got busy yesterday afternoon after I left.

It was really cool to bounce ideas off each other and watch Matt turn the vision in my mind into reality as we mocked up some ideas in poster board before commiting them to steel.

The rear of the Trail Beater was removed (Matt's sons idea!) as the rear of the R/R/R will be fully tubed w/ a truggy style bed.

Matt also let me be one of the first to use one of his sweet link mounts on the rear (I'll let him post pics of it). It eliminated the need for a link mount plate and after a little grinding on the axle, it will allow an even more scale appearance to the axle!

Here area few pics Matt sent me last night.

Those will have to do for now, stay tunded!

More updates from Matt @ Dinky RC!

I'm so drooling right now!

I guess he wasn't happy w/ the main hoop and bent up another, and added a few more.

Pics:

These are in the works as well!
