Hi Mike,

Before I go deleting AFPD and reinstalling it, I wanted to check with you on possible other steps. I'm running XP SP2 and I downloaded one of the new sceneries form the IPACS website and tried to install it. It's my error as I wasn't thinking when I did this because I tried to use the AFPD Import Wizard on an exe file (duh!). Everything seemed to work fine during the install but when I went into AFPD to verify the scenery was there, all of my other standard and other sceneries were gone and I'm left with only the one that I was using before the mishap. Is there something I can do before I delete and reinstall? I have both add-ons installed as well. When I go into Program Files\IPACS\AFPD\Scenery I see multiple folders of different sceneries that I've downloaded. When I look in the AFPD folder, there are only two files: cpano and ground. Here are the other folders in the scenery directory: AFPD, carrier, castle, desert, eggeland, farmland, forestlake, fuerteventura, Garten, grassau, hanggliding, ikarus, indoor, islemail, monumnetvalley, mountlake, neurenbuerg, ohmenhausen, omahawks, pagefield, pfaffenhofen, pilsum, roettingen, romaair, rottenburg, scenery, seiser-alm, sparingfield, thefield, tyson, usa, wittgenstein, woellaner-nock.

Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, I do not know what exactly is the algorithm of these "import wizards" and I would avoid using them. These wizards are third party softwares and have not been created by IPACS or Ikarus. I would suggest that you refer to the model and scenery download procedures that I have stickied above this forum. For now, I think the safest route you can take is to do a complete uninstall and reinstall.

Hi Mike,

This is getting a little bizarre. I did as suggested and deleted the entire AFPD using the XP control panel and then I reloaded the software and then upgraded to the latest version. When I opened the program to fly I noticed that none of the scenery files copied over. Is this something that you can provide some insight on ? I'd really like to fly this latest update...any chance you can provide some additional insight before I break down and grrom them for a job.

Thanks,

jeff

Jeff, did you install any addon? Which patch did you install? When you mentioned that none of the scenery files copied over, do you mean that you could not see any scenery for selection in the main menu? Were you able to run AFPD in your system before?

Mike, yes I did install the two Add-ons and I upgraded to the latest version 1.97xxx before I launched the program. After deinstalling and then reinstalling and updating I still cannot load any sceneries from the scenery tab....there's nothing visible to load. Yes, prior to attempting to load one of the downloadable sceneries, I had all of the other choices available to me. Any thoughts? Anyone you think I should contact? I can only fly the Winzen field at this time. Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated!

Which video card are you using, and have you installed the latest card driver? Pls post your tm.log file here if possible.

Hi Mike,

I'm running an NVIDA GeForce 7600 GS video card with 512MB of RAM. Yes, I do have the very latest drivers downloaded as well. IF you can tell me how to create a "tm.log" file for you I'll galdly do that as well.

Hi Jeff, you'll find the tm.log file in this directory C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe You can open it with any text editor like notepad or word. Copy the entire content and post it here. Thanks

Your tmlog does not reveal anything unusual. It is suspected that the "import wizard" somehow screwed up the
afpd installation. Please uninstall that tool and try to uninstall/reinstall AFPD over again. The sequence of installation should be:

AFPD
AddOn 1
StarFlight AddOn
Patch V1.9.7.11

I hope this helps

Hi Mike,

I did as suggested and I still don't have any other flying fields. Any idea where AFPD hits the registry files? Do I need to go in there to clean this up again? Thoughts?

Hi Jeff, AFPD does not have any entries in the registry. Did you uninstall the import wizard? Do you know if the flying fields "disappeared" after installation of the main disk, or after the addon installation, or after running the patch? Take a look in this directory C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe\scenery Are there any scenery folders in it?
