Just got the plane, realy nice looking kit.
I have read the build threads here a few times and feel that I can build this with confidence.
Zort86: I plan to put a DA50 on it, it is what came off of my extra that had one too many "learning experiences". Did you change to hs5945 on the ailerons?
I will have to buy a slimline muffler as the standard muffler requires way too much cutting of the cowl
I am not allowed to build it till after X-Mas so right now I am just reading as much as I can.

I think you will like the plane, it has a lot of potential.
I have not changed the servos yet, I am still running the HS645. They are working fine. I do have HS5645 on the elevator, but so far that is it.
the DA should be a great fit for it, you will have just about unlimited power.
There were a few builds where they used a DA50 so if you use a slimline pitts muffler you will have no problems fitting it in the cowl.

People in this hobby (and I suppose in others as well) tend to jump on every bandwagon that passes by. Vendors send out a new wagon every few weeks to extract as much money from customers as possible. This of course is commerce, and I'm glad all this stuff is available.

But just because something is new and better does not mean it fits every application. You do not need fast digital servos for every application.

The 645 is a decent servo, but a little slow and non digital. Well, digital just makes a plane more sensitive, and fast servos extend that attribute. So if you have a plane that is naturally sensitive and quick to respond, what you don't need is to spend more money to make it more sensitive and faster. An Ultimate has an extremely fast roll rate, and is very sensitive around center. The last thing you need is faster digital servos, this would just mean you need to add a bunch of expo to slow it down. In this case the 645s work fine.

I have been using 985s on my planes with multiple aileron servos. They are very accurate and fast, but non-digital. All my planes require some expo on aileron anyway, so I save about $100 per plane by using analog servos and I get the same performance. I like digitals for elevator and rudder, but they are often overkill on ailerons. Of course there are other reasons to buy digital servos, but on ailerons on many aerobatic planes they are not necessary.

Tom,

I believe you are correct about this, but I have some digitals that came off of the other plane and I was just wondering how they will work.
I do plan on putting the 5955 on the rudder.
I am to the point now where I am going to fit the servo's/fuel tank etc.
Smooth build. A lot of the things I read about in earlier posts must have been rectified in this kit as there was very little modification needed on anything.

Where do you mount the throttle and choke servo's. There does not seem to be a fixed spot for it in the fuse?
Since there were no decals with the kit, I would like to order some. Any suggestions?
I would also like to get instrument graphics for the cockpit. The pilot is taken care of

I agree with Tom that the Ultimate has a VERY fast roll rate. I have mine set on low rates (from the manual) with 35% expo and it has a fast roll rate, high rate would be to fast for normal pattern or sport flying, I would guess they are what you need to 3D.

As for the throttle and choke, if you look at my picks, I mounted mine on the first shelf, under the battery/ Rx tray.
I think the older version had the spots cut out, but I liked that location so I cut the shelf out and made a servo mount.

Tom may have a better suggestion, so I would give him a call and see what he says.

I will tell you one thing, we went out flying today, here in NC it was 68 degrees and about 10-12 mph winds, and it flew like a champ, did not even flinge.

I did look at those pictures, but the tray you manufactured to carry the battery packs, regulators and receiver obscured the actual throttle and choke servo's.
I just wanted to make sure I am not missing something. I will make something similar to what you have.
Pictures to follow.....
I also see the nice "Wild Hare" decal in the pictures. Where did you get those?

The Wild Hare decals came with the plane. If yours doesn't have them I would definitely give Tom a call.

I have finished the plane and will now have to wait till spring to fly it, that or put ski's on it
Note the new color scheme for the purple and there is no decals with it either.

I installed the rudder servo by the rudder just like others has done as the CG came out nose heavy(It was balanced without the prop ).
I have more pictures to add as time permit.

Oh, I forgot: The AUW is 15.8.

Hey, it looks good. I like the purple color scheme, it is different.
I have all the hardware now to add a smoke system to mine. I should have that done this week, I will post some pictures when I get them off the camera.

What are putting in for smoke?
I would like to add smoke once I recover from the cost of the plane.

I have a super smoke pump and the muffler already has smoke port, so what I did was add the smoke tank on top of the fuel tank. Right now I have a small tank in there so we will see how that goes, I will try and get you some pictures so you can see how I did it.
