Good morning,

Do the RCV CD line of engines follow the old rule of thumb about about 4C displacement x 70% matching recommended 2C displacements? Specifically, would the RCV58-CD continue to rate equivalent to a standard .40? Or has the newer technology edged the comparision a bit more favorably...perhaps closer to a .46? I guess that would be 80%.

I know these are difficult comparisons to make between 4C and 2C, so really just looking for the general perception rather than empirical BHP comparisions, etc.

As a side note, I'm returning to the hobby after a dozen years away. I have an RCV58-CD in a Sig LT-40 nearing completion, and will pick up another for the Sig Kavalier just underway. I anticipate transitioning out of the trainer pretty quick and my eye has been caught by a 40-sized kit that calls for a high performance 40 or standard 46. I'd like to bounce the first 58-CD into the third project and keep 2 planes in the air that way. Of course, that doesn't count the 60-sized Tiger Moth kit I have that's screaming for a 91-CD

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom

Thank you for your posting. I can tell you that our RCV58-CD 4 stroke engine is the equivalent to a .40 2 stroke engine, with a displacement of 0.58 cu inch / 9.5 cc. Our RCV91-CD 4 stroke is the equivalent to a 0.60 2 stroke, with a displacement of 0.91 cu inch / 15cc.

I hope this answers your question and have fun with all your new projects.

Many thanks

Stephanie
