All in all, evreyone has their favorite brand of prop. Again I applaude anyone taking the time to test and post their findings on whatever it may be. I'm sure someone has plotted thrust curves for various props, if not then that may be the next step. Of course different engines will respond differently to different props. It would take lots of time and fuel but hey, I would get involved it someone felt it would help out. As for the mechanic and engineer issue, I've been involved in prototype and design on various casino products. Listening to others is what gave us our final products. Just remember when your work on your cat/truck/dishwasher/clothes washer/dryer/or whatever and find yourself saying "What they heck were they thinking when they designed this?!".

One of my last jobs in the service was working with contractors and procurement of aviation items. It was an eye opening job. First, it was an education in the ruggedness of militirized items and how engineers went about it. Second, it was a steep learning curve to get how things worked with what the military contracts for. From what I saw, engineers and manufacturers were willing to improve all the time. The military system is what prevented most changes. You don't just go out and get an improved part or component. You have a tremendous logistical train behind every part that has to be involved in the process. Just changing operator and maintenance manuals is an incredibly big undertaking. Then, you have the schools who have to be in the loop. Everything is tested, tested again, and retested. It seems wasteful at first, but it isn't in the aviation world. I wouldn't want it any other way myself. You can never push aviation safety too far. I saw both the good and bad with civilian companies and their engineers. Many were willing to make changes almost for free if they were needed. All were willing to listen to what we had to say, and I was never shy to speak my mind from the pilot and maintenance end.

This is off topic for the thread, but maybe this will address some things brought up.

When I was working as a sheetmetal worker we were making switchboard cubicles and at one stage they were so clueless we actually made the the switchboard first and then they came down with their computers ,pens and paper and made the plans after we finished. This sort of crap doesn't instill much confidence. On numerous occasions when the s##t hit the fan and engineers were called in to solve a problem they would stand around scratching their head and you could tell when they would swallow their pride and come and ask what the hell to do to fix the prob. Of course I told them bugger all, when you earn 3X the $ and have a degree they should teach them some smarts. Its no good being able to design a A bomb if you cant screw in a light bulb. Enough of this ranting cheers the pope.
