It is a great plane. Flies very well too!! I thought I got the deal of the century when I found mine in the LHS with the old price tag of $124. You have me beat!! It flies slow, fast, and has no bad habits at all. Have a blast with it. The T-Craft is now my favorite plane. It is bigger than I thought it was going to be. It's funny to read some of the early threads on this plane. People thought it was too heavy by judging the wingspan vs weight. I don't think people relized that this is a clipped wing version. Full span this plane would be about 55- 57 inches. That's a 15-25 nitro engine that usually weighs 3-4 pounds. This plane lands at a crawl pace.

Unfortunately it is windy today and I have had an on/off fever from an Anthrax vaccine they gave us or I would have flown it. It's all set up and I can tell by holding the tail that it will have unlimited vertical with the 480. Not that it is a real aerobatic plane in real life but like a clipped wing cub I am sure it will do most of the basic stuff..

Bud, with the 480 motor on 2100 3S with a 12x6 APC prop you will get great vertical performance from this plane. At 65-75% throttle on cruise, and aerobatic maneuvers thrown in, you should get approximately 7-8 minutes of flight time. If you baby it and fly scale 50% throttle, you will get over 10 minutes of flight time. General flying on floats will net you approximately 5-6 minutes of flight time.

Escuse me, but which E-Flite 480 are you talking about?

I believe to swing that large 12 X 6 you would need to recommend the 950Kv and not the 1020Kv.

Just to clear which motor.

Yup, you are very right I was running the 950 KV park 480. Another thing folks don't take into account is that the E-Flight motors tend to be a tad under rated in their literature. Put any e-flight motor on a watt meter and see what you get at WOT. I think you will be pleasantly surprized. At least this has been my finding on the 5 different e-flight motors that I have run. Not saying that it's good to run the the motor WOT for long periods of time, just that they pack a good punch. Also, I was running 2.75 dia tires on this plane, which gives more ground clearance to swing the bigger dia prop.

Mine came with a 2005 Park 480 910Kv with a 11x5.5.. I held it up and gunned it. If I would have let go it would have gone to the ceiling.. Still havent flown it yet but looking forward to it.

Thank's Mojavegold. I really enjoy that plane. She is going exactly where I want her too. 480 BL is perfect, specially when it's windy.

Yeah, that is one great flyer. That motor has plenty of power for float flying too. I'm building a 1/4 scale Super Decathalon that I'm converting to e-power. I have a build thread on this site. Check it out if you want. Happy New Year

I am wondering, if I limit my throttle on the 480 engine to give it the same performance as the 450, which would give the longest flying time for the same size battery and prop?

Snoopy, where did you get that cockpit set?
Hey all, got some tax money back and decided to get this. I have been eyeballing this since last year. Noticed the price went up on Horizon, so I nabbed up the one they had left at the LHS for 109.99, looks nice! This will stay in the box till I get some more gear to put into it, but I got a Turnigy 35-36c for it, going to go with DS75's probably, and a Pentium 40A ESC from Donsrc.com. I have some of his stuff and like it alot.
Hope you all are getting some better wheather than here in WASHINGTON.

Hope to have pics up soon, but there is a partially built Spitfire on the bench, so this one will have to wait a while, ...........OR,...... we could just eat our meals on the couch for a week ......LOL

I will keep up on this thread......
laters,
Isaiah

Isaiah, I'm using a Turnigy 2217 1050KV brushless outrunner and Plush 25A ESC, spinning a 10x5, with power from a Zippy 2200 mAh 3S1P 20C, and zero modifications were needed to make that equipment work. That's not a high-power set-up, it won't do unlimited verticalbut if I cruise around at a tick or two under 1/2 throttle I can get more than 25 minutes out of a single pack... you're going to enjoy this plane!

OK, the 3536c Turnigy seems a little long, specs show it at 3mm longer than a park 480. I got it fitted no probs, but in fitting the cowl there has to be about a 1/16 of an inch gap across the top to make the hub clear the cowl. I am happy with it like that, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
Now I gotta get the 40A ESC and I'll be good to go. DS75's are on their way and the AR6200 is in the box with the plane parts, as is the motor.
I have another plane in the box, all parts included, and all it needs is time and some paint. LOL been there 6 weeks like that, better get warm soon and light a fire under my butt.
I know I'm going to enjoy this one, just scared about our field, bumpy and grass tufts all over.
Thinking I might go AMA and join the local club, but it's like 40 min to the field. baseball diamonds are nice though..... no cricket pitches around here though... bummer LOL

ESC suggestions????? (~40A)
DS75's sound good????

Got 2 pilot busts, gotta make bases for them and get magnets so they come off the seats , putting magnets on the bottom of the seats, and on the pilots bases to make them interchangeable. I got a bust of Dracula, and one of Frankenstein. LOL gotta get Charlie Brown and Snoopy too!!!!!

Where to get scale interior and guages?????
to ply or not to ply??? firewall and floor in landing gear area, and battery tray.
What all needs done to this to make it good for a somewhat rough field??? plan on no spats and a set of 2 1/2 inchers or 3inchers for bush look....

needs a little work with the iron, but I have no heat gun, will a hair dryer work to tighten the covering a little? so far it looks good though...

need help please!!!
Has anyone had a hard time getting there wing struts to fit properly? I attache the one point to the bottom of the fuselage and i would need to bend/warp the heck out of them to get them in the drilled holes on the wing, mostly the hole towards the rear of the wing on both sides.
I did force one on and it had so much pressure it was warping the wing. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Most of us have found the pre-drilled locations to be close, but not dead on. I redrilled the holes in the bottom of the fuselage...others have repositioned them out on the wings. Obviously, you don't want them stressed or bowed as they will break and you definately don't want them affecting the dihedral. Take a look at how far off they are and decide if you need to drill new holes, elongate the the holes in the struts to give adjustment or a combination of both. They are not functional as far as wing strength according to E-Flite. They are purely for scale looks, but they can affect the wing position.

Good luck!
