I just bought an Ultimate 120 and was wondering if anyone has flown one with a .90 in it. I'm trying to decide what power plant I want to put in it. I'm considering either a Super Tigre G-90 or an SK 1.10. I flew a buddies Goldberg Ultimate before, which I would consider a similar aircraft, and it seemed to go around just fine. Any help is appreciated.

I Look forward To the answer to your request,
I was about to ask the same question. My motor is a Yamada 91 AC. and like you I would also like to know if that motor would fly the ultimate 120 just as a sport plane

I fly my 1.20 with an O.S. Surpass III 1.20.

It does pretty well with this combination.

The Surpass 1.20 is rated to put out 2.1 bHp under ideal conditions.

The G-90 is rated at 2.5 bHp.

Go with the largest recommended prop on the G-90 and you'll be good, with slightly better power than a 1.20 FS.

There will be TONS of room in the cowl with this engine...

BTW: If you haven't purchased the SuperTiger yet, check out the GMS 1.20 engine, 3.3BHP @ 13,000 RPM!

I have the GMS 1.20 on a Falcon 1.20.

The GMS should haul the Biplane around with authority, though you'll need to move the batteries forward to get the C.G. right as the 2C engine is relatively light.

One note on the GMS 1.20.

I find that after the engine is broken in, if you tune it the way you do most engines, the mid range will always seem to be "off".

I ended up setting my LS needle a little LEANER that I would normally set it using standard testing, etc. ( about 1/4 turn ) and the HS needle about 1/4 richer. This fixes the transition and still lets the engine run within the correct temperature range.

You would have no problem side mounting the GMS 1.20 in the Biplane, though I prefer the inverted mounts for looks...

All of my Biplanes have inverted engines as do most of my planes.

the only muffler i have found requires a side mount, do you know of a muffler that will let this engine be mounted inverted?

Set your iron about 160, then work your way up until you see a barely perceptible discoloration whenever you put the iron on the covering.

This is the temp that you want.
