Hi Joe.
I did re-lube all my retract air cylinders and had to rebuild/re-lube one of the flap air cylinders but I did not re-Lube any of the door cylinders. I have never had a problem with them on any jet so I did not bother with it. I would guess that there is a cap and they unscrew from the top or bottom. Once apart I wipe all parts dry and use wheel bearing grease moderately on all parts including the threads when reassembling. Another alternative would be to hook up a piece of air tubing and squirt in some fine oil like WD-40 or the stuff BVM sells.
Here is a picture from my Panther showing a cylinder.

Dom,

Sounds good - I'll probably just do a leak check on the door cylinders and leave them 'as is' then.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Dom,

Tam inadvertently sent me the 80mm bell mouth - is this usable, or should I exchange it for the 85mm?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe.
Something is wrong here. I already replied to this post but it is gone.

Anyway the 85 mm is too big to fit in the pipe. That is what I had the first time. The 80mm fits well with enough meat left to mount the screws.

Dom,

You're right - I did see your first reply early this morning. That is strange.

I still need to post some pictures - I'll take some this weekend.

Thanks a bunch!
Joe

Bob,

I vow not be a 'jet-spectator' too much longer - I hope.

I'm installing the tailpipe, empennage, turbine, routing main gear air lines and servo leads tonight!

I'll start re-working the fuel tank plumbing tonight as well.

Oh yes, I completed all of the re-work on the main gear door hinges, actuators and connecting rods and both wings are done.

Incidentally, I saw the video of the blue & yellow FeiBao Panther @ Florida Jets 08. It looks like it flies great - very smooth and responsive. I'm thinking the FeiBao Panther was a good choice for a first jet.

Get that F-100 painted - you know it's going to look great!

more to come...

Joe

Dom,

I'm installing the fuel tanks this morning and I noticed that the I.D. of the fuel tank copper tubes (supplied by FeiBao) are much 'smaller' than standard 5/32 'brass' tubing.

Here are the dimensions:

Copper tubes measure .077" I.D.

Standard brass tubes measure .110" I.D.

I'm concerned about fuel restriction.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe.
I replaced mine with 5/32 and soldered on a barb to help secure the line. I also used safety wire everywhere.
I think the stock copper will work fine but I like to do things my way.

Hi Dom,
Thanks for the quick reply!

That sounds good - I'll do likewise and replace the tubing with standard 5/32 brass and solder on the barbs.

Thanks,
Joe

Things look good weather wise so tomorrow I will test fly the Panther. For those of you that have flown yours, how much elevator and aileron throw are you using? The manual says 1" each way for both aileron and elevator. Are you using any expo? I don't use expo but still would like to know if you have it. I will try to get some pictures and video if there is anyone at the field to film it.
Thanks!!
