Thanks Papa Jeff!!!

Almost finished today but ran out of time. It's my turn to occupy the baby while my wife gets some things done. I'll resume work on it Sunday. I Just need to run the fuel lines and mount the RX then I will verify the balance and weigh the jet. I will also include all my photos of the installation.

I finished the air system installation yesterday so here are the photos. There is a lot going on here so try to keep things as neat as possible. Since I have made each tray removable for service regardless of the other trays (I hate to rip apart a whole jet just to get to one component) there is some compromise in neatness. For example all the extra lines you see give me enough slack to pull the tray out on top of the jet to work on it. This makes servicing or adjustments a breeze. also planning the layout of servo wires and airlines is important. If they all run through a bulkhead they are very neat but you can’t pull the trays out. My lines run through bulkheads in locations that don’t require regular service. You can see that in the photos. All the extra slack from the air tray lines are bundled and tie wrapped to together and folded under the air tray. There is lots of space under there so the arrangement is perfect. The extra lines up top are for the air tanks. These too must have enough slack to be pulled out of the nose. I added some carbon fiber to the rear nose gear bulkhead and also the steering servo bulkhead where the air cylinders mount. I also opened up some clearance for the pull pull cables. The gear work and cycle perfectly!! It is very cool to watch. The only problem is that the nose gear doors would not close all the way due to the tire contacting the doors. You can see the mod I made to mine and now the doors close all the way. Also note that I mounted my ECU battery along with my two receiver batteries in the nose. You can also see the 4 oz of ballast needed for balance. That's it for now. I will finish this jet today and show all the final fuel system and radio, ECU installation then.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but the hinges on one of my gear doors
and the hinge on the dive brake have both broken off at the point where the ball link
has been screwed in. I was able to replace the one on the gear door with one of Tam's
offset hinges, but the one on the dive brake is a double version that I have not seen before.

The hinges seem to be very brittle, just like the early SM hinges. Anyone else having the same
problem?

Wagner - can you supply the double hinges for the dive brakes?

Thanks,
Tor

I broke a hinge yesterday as well....one of the dive brakes. It just broke when the dive brakes opened. As far a a double hinge, it is a regular hinge with two arms mounted to the outside rather than one arm in the middle.

I just finished an MB339 and had three break. I think they got a bad batch, cause earlier FB planes I have built with these hinges didn't exhibit this tendency. I reported it to Wagner and he was going to bring it up with them when he is in China.

I finished the Panther tonight!! Final weight was 31 lbs with including 4 oz of lead in the nose, a full UAT and about 1/4 full main tank. I am not real happy with the ECU and Receiver layout right now. It just looks way to sloppy...lots of wires. I need to remove the Receiver to test in my Taylorcraft so I'll give it another try then.
