shipping fuel can be a BIG problem.
If in need, try medical or paint supplies (medical for ethanol and castor oil; paint supplies for methanol) Train your engines not to use any nitro by raising the compression ratio (remove head gasket).
I know it is not much of help I can offer, but that may be your downline.
Good luck.

Once again pe rivers is right on the mark. Shipping hazmat is a PAIN IN THE A**! In the US it is regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and governed by wonderfully complex set of rules that require certification and complex record keeping.

With the above said, try calling or writing Tower Hobbies, Red Max, Horizon Hobby or any other distributer and see if they will ship to an APO/FPO. If you get dead ended try ordering from. Somewhere in the UK. Maybe RipMax will help.

I think in all cases, you will not like the shipping/hazmat costs.

HAZMAT costs AAAAGGGGHHHHH

If you order the lubrication oil either castor oil or synthetic often classed as non HAZMAT material
then you only need to find the Methanol locally which is a HAZ MAT
Nitro methane is not nessary to make motor run and is a HAZMAT and cost a fortune outside USA so most modelers outside USA avoid using it
Failing that Ethanol localy might work but thats more tricky for the novivce to use
Local UN army base or ASMEX army base could have supplys of methanol for medical purposes but more likly to have medical denatured Ethanol that is 85% Ethanol 15% Methanol ( which would work if your not a novice ) or pure Etanol (useful for punch in parties also ) or E85 gasoline which is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline ( which if your not a novice would work also)

Soap manufactuering and paint factories are reputed to be sources of methanol

Often for the price of shipping the fuel ready made say 20 gallons it would be cheaper to buy 50cc gasoline motor and use normal gasoline than to import fuel
Or if your in the capital convince a local to make LHS and as the locals are very enteprising they may solve your problem probably import from china or India or Pacistan whatever

What motors for what use do you wish to do
If its high altidue location electric works a lot better as glow motors lose lots of power above 10,000 feet

well i went on r&r and i snuck some in from qutar they have a hobby shop down there in there huge mall called the center city mall or as the military call it the BAM and my elovation isnt that high but i brought back a gallon so it will last me i run it at least once a week i know i should have gone electric but i never thought fuel would be that hard

DadsToysBG -> RE: shiping fuel? (12/22/2007 7:24:00 PM)

I don't think they will ship any of the fuel by air, only ground. Find somebody that can get the fuel for you at the BAM and get it in your base by supply. Dennis
