Hi Jonney,
If your engine starts very easy, that would be an indication that the timing might be set right. Could however also be that the ignition retards well. Check it after you have set the needles close to what they should be, if it runs erratic, then try retarding the timing. Made a huge difference on my engine.
Regards
Andreas

Andreas,,I wonder if you could tell me round abouts where your needels ended up?,,,and which way you moved the sensor with the rotat or against?,,thanks Jonney

Hi Jonney,
I just checked the needles, L-1 and 1/4 turn open and H-1 and 1/4 turn open. The engine ran very well like this, the plug is a tan brown colour, so it seems to be right. PLEASE BEAR IN MIND: I am about 6500-6800 feet above sea level, so if you are any closer to the big water than your setting will be richer (I think your highest mountain is about that high ).

The ignition had to be retarded as far as the slot in the pickup mount would allow, with one screw removed (the left screw when viewing the engine from the top standing behind it while it is mounted inverted) you have to move the pickup in the direction of rotation, until all misfiring is gone.
Shout if you need help
Regards

Andreas

Hi Jonney,
Your Nr's sound allot better than mine, but then you are allot lower than I am. As for the choke, I use an electric starter, dose well, and no priming necessary, once it has warmed up, it starts first flip. No probs.
Regards
Andreas

Hi Jonney, (I like the Nick)

But, I like the Extra also. You guys are so luck, as you get all these fine planes. I see it has a profiled tail and all, that’s not standard on this size of plane if you ask me. If I were you, that motor would be in that baby, running in in the air, not on that neat test bench.
Oh, one last thing, I'm so glad that my shop is not the only one that has "KAK" lying around everywhere.

Keep me updated please
Regards
Andreas

I just ordered 3 of the SV 26cc engines for myself and 2 of my buddies. The shipping was $95.00 total for all 3, not bad really. I called Hobby City about an hour ago, and was assured that they will definently be getting more in soon, so were not too worried. Dennis

I have started yesterday brand new SV26cc. I'm new to gasserrs, and that is my first gasser egine, it starts fantastically, transicion is good and ideling too. can say nothing about top RPM, cause I don't have tachometer, but see this video:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=DBCrqnQX_6U

though muffler comes loose and it needes retightening, and throtile arm on carburator ins aluminum and from vibration the hole for pushrod connector is enlarged a bit, I think nylon pushrod connector won't cause this.

I order my SV26 on the 19th of Nov and mine was shipped from Hong Hong on Dec. 1oth. It arrived it the US on Dec 11th and is on it way to me. I have been tracking it thru Hobby Citys web page. I plan on install my SV 26 in a Goldberg Stinson. The plan is known to be tail heavy so i am hoping the extra weight on a small gasser will work out OK. The SV26 shold be here tomorrow I hope. I will test it will some differernt props(16x8, 17x8, 18x6 & 18x8) and post the finding here.

I called em yesterday, and I was told that they will get more in at the end of december, so we won't be seeing ours until mid Jan I think. I don't have anything to put mine on as of yet, unless it will work on my Super Skybolt, but it's more of a 91 four stroke size plane. I have a magnum 70 on it now, and it's kinda under powered. If I can make it work on there, i'll use a 3 bladed prop for the ground clearance. If it won't work, i'll save my pennies and get a 120 size Super Stearman or something. My friend Greg is putting his on a Goldberg Monster Pitts, which has a 120 Saito on it now. My goal is too completely get away from glow engines. They simply cost too much for a poor guy like me to fly every day. I've been spending $80.00 a month to fly my 4 planes, and thats sick ! I think gas would put me down to the $20.00 a month.

You won't ever regret switching from glow to gas, for no more dead sticks, overly messy models to wipe down or carb needles that need to be fiddled with each time you go to fly and most importantly it only costs pennies to fly gas.

I hope you guys luck out and get good engines. Personally, anytime I see TomyRCModels pop up in a thread promoting something I usually go the other way.
