If you want a choke, just snag one off an old weedeater, or create a hole in the cowling so you can put your finger over the intake while turning the engine by hand a few revolutions before starting.

The only choke that will work on this carb is one the mounts over the venturi. I do not have one and I am going to change this carb out to a better carb like the Walbro-201 or the WT-644. They both come with a choke and have a 13mm venturi so the engine will breath better which means you'll get more RPM on the same size prop.

I know this because I did this on a Ryobi conversion engine I built and it to had a carb with a 8mm venturi. I changed it out to a Walbro WT-644 and my RPM went up from 7000RPM with a MAS 18x8 prop to 7800RPM. That is a big increase and the plane flew much better and was much easier to start.

The Walbro WT-644 in only $39.95 at my local small engine shop and it is the standard carb on all Zenoah's G-26 engines. This still keeps this little engines price very reasonable and it will make a big differance on the top end.

Guys I havent flow it yet but,,this motor has had 6 liters of fuel threw it on the bench ,,It was starting to crack a 16x8 at 8400rpm ,,I am now running a 17x8 at 7650 its got plenty of grunt ,,Dont know if a Bigger carb will be a advantage or not,,Its still got to be abel to burn the Extra fuel,,In a 65 to 70 inch plane it will be awsome

Jhonny,

I have one question. I see you are putting the SV 26 on a plane that will have a cowl. How easy is the engine to start if you cannot choke it when it is cold?

The larger WT-644 carb that is used by Zenoah on their G-26 should give the engine at least 500 more RPM's with the same prop. I know this becaus I changed out a small carb on my Ryobi to one at it jump up 800 RPM.

Good luck

Jim,

THe guys at my field are using a regular 12v starter to start the engine... The SV 26's are very easy to start, and run good. I'm thinking about getting one after Xmas.

With the carb so close to the engine box,,I had to put a hole in the engine box,,So with a hand held valve grinding stick (with the rubber suckshion disk on the end) I can put it up the fuss inside thru the hole straight on to the back of the carb ,,,turn it over by hand till its nice and wet,,,,she will start first flip ,,very easy to start

Jonny,

Very nice looking plane. Looks like the engine fit that plane real well. Get some video of your maiden flight if you can. I would like to see how you start the SV-26 and how well it fly's your plane. What plane is it in and how much does it weigh? Also what is the wing span and wing area of your plane .

I am starting to build a Goldberg Stinson after the holidays and the plane will weigh around 12lbs with a 900 sq in wing area. The wing loading well be a little on the high side for me and that is why I want to get as more power as I can out of this litte engine.

Jonny,

Sounds and looks like it will fly real well. Looking forward to watching the video. Lets use know what prop and what RPM you are getting when you do the maiden flight.[

Thanks

I'm going to install it in my almost finished g202, the weight of plane without fuel will be 4.3kg and wing loading becomes 70g on square decimeter this bird will be goood 3d one
but I had to cut out great piece of cowl to install engine, it would be better with longer hub

Bako,

Nice looking plnae. Looks like you are going to have a great flying plane once you are done.

Does anyone know what type of NGK spark plug will work with the SV-26 engine? I want to use a resistor type plug and I don't think the plug that comes with the engine is a resisor plug. I was wondering if a NGK BPMR6A or maybe a CMR6A plug. Both have resistors, but one is a 14mm plug and the other is a 10mm plug.
