To be honest I think I was getting about 14-15mins straight out of the box. Have you leaned out the top end for max rpm and smoothed out the low end?

Funny you should mention that wavy777 because that's exactly what I paid for a liter of Belray H1R on Saturday. I knew your petrol was a lot higher but always figured your oil would be too! Guess it's been a while since i bought any there.

Well, I ordered a new cowl from TBM 60 bucks. Not bad. Then I called Tom at valley view RC, he's sending me a JXF 22x8, drilled how I want, shipped for 27 dollars. What a guy. You guys want a good company to deal with give Tom a call.

looking forward to seeing more post on this motor as it looks as though not enough people have alot of time on it.can anyone tell me what the carb number is assuming it is a walbro carb.i my self fly da50 and da100.althought they are pricey they perform great.would like to pick up a dl50 to put in a winter plane im building now.can anyone here that is using a throttle curve tell me how well the transition of the motor is around hover point.just to let the previous poster know.the first time you put gas thru a new motor (carb) its diaphram is dry.making its pump function less.once you get the diaphram wet with gas it will pump just fine.a easy way to prime the carb is ,ignition off, place finger over carb opening or full choke.rock the prop back and forth past the compression stoke.(ignition off) this will draw fuel in instead of flip the prop continously.

I run negative expo on my throttle and the transition is as close to flawless as you can get. IMHO You can take a look at it for yourself in the tuning video I posted. The engine behaves just the same in the air. BTW the reason I used the expo is to get the throttle response correct for the position of the stick. Oh, one other thing, the DL seems to perform much better then the DA from what my hardcore DA friends tell me. They're dumping their DAs in favor of the DL.

I like my 3 DL's better than my DA for sure. I use 30% expo on throttle. Transition is great and there is a noticable difference in engine performance between the two. (to me ) Allthough my DA must be one with probs. (leans out inverted) as other all say thiers run great.

Hi guys!

i just finished building my SD model extra 30%, and i was wondering what spinner adaptor do you use?
i've got the 4" aluminum spinner and it comes with a M5X40 hex screw, but it is too short..
where can i get a longer hex screw or an adaptor?

thanks
liron

Lou, I think the source of UK and USA oil is the same, somewhere near Baghdad! So the price should be the same... Would be good to see some of our US friends Hucking over here....i think an EF yak would be considered 'hand luggage' wouldnt it?

Drewbags, i have only richened the bottom end about 1/16th of a turn and not touched the top end...yet..i'm gonna wait and see how it go's before i have another 'play' with the needles, its got so much power I can't believe it!! What an engine...starting to turn heads where i fly, i think some people thought it was a DA85

CHeers

W

PS: I totally agree with you guys, the DL is a no-brainer decision over a DA. I have an unused DA that will not see any fuel...but it will see Ebay!! guess where the cash is going?...... DLUSA

Wavy

My only thought is not to run it too rich for too long, it will carbon up in no time. As long as you have the right oil content and good cooling it will do it no harm. My advice would be to get the needles set close to optimum earlier rather than later. I agree about this being an excellent engine, guys who have seen mine are eager to get their hands on one!
