A CMR6 spark plug is a 10mm thread.. Look at sparkplugs.com..There IS a difference..

I think the Dl50 will be an overkill for that airplane. You might be better off with a Zenoah G38 or something in that area.

It might be overkill but the price of the zenoah is still more than the DL. I would go with the Dl and that way if you want to go with something more aerobatic later your have an engine that will handle it.

Also in his pics it states its a CM6 plug, looks to me more like a 14mm plug that SV use, not a 10mm CM6.

Possibly just the photo angle, but looks like the standard bigger stick through the cowl plugs that SV use with thier engines also.

You are right about the spark plug.If you look at the middle pic on post 1681,you can see on the plug in the engine reads CMR on it.
I looked locally for a CM-6,thought I found one, went to pic it up and it was a CMR6 NGk plug.It was a 14 mm plug with longer threads.
So I am still looking locally.probably will have to order a couple.

I get mine from the local O'reilly autoparts store. I think I paid $4 per plug last time I got em about a month ago. If you can't get em try your LHS if they are a horizon dealer. Horizon Hobby carries cm6 plugs now for $6.35 each now, part#EVO30013309. They're higher than a parts store, but they have em in stock now.

I have sort of already gone with the DL50. It's on order and will arrive to me next week
The Taxi2400 airplane is matched for a 26cc gasoline engine, but at almost 8 feet wingspan and 18lbs all out weight I thought a 50 would be a better fit?

Anyhow, it's kinda hard to find a good plane for a 50cc that is not:
A: One of the 3D brothers (yak, edge, extra, yak, yak)
B: Super Cub

I think I'll go with the Taxi2400 if nobody stops me ?

I would be concerned about putting the power of a DL50 on that type of plane. Extra weight, greatly over powering the airframe, balancing issues, tearing out the firewall, prop clearance. I have a G26 and a couple of DL50's, and there is a hugh power difference. The DL50 is a high performance engine intended for highly aerobatic planes. However, the DL50 will hover it and give it OMG, out of site vertical.

My two cents worth
Chuck

On Vess 22A and synthetic oil/fuel mixture (first tank after break in on Lawnboy) and tweaking low end needle, I was hitting 7400rpm. OMG. Unfortunately, I had a mid-senior moment and allowed plane, Giant Aeromaster, get way to slow on landing which resulted in a stall about 8 feet off the deck. Dinged up a wing tip (not bad) and destroyed my BRAND NEW VESS!!! That was a $37 landing . I am re-ording the Vess today. That was one beautiful prop. The broken hob will be mounted on the wall in my shop to remind me of my stupidity. And it was in front of a whole bunch of other pilots. Feel lower than snake slime.

I went flying tonight and it was great! The DL run purfect and started like a dream every time. It hovers my 16.5 pound yak at 1/2 thottle, and punch it, to the moon, this motor is unreal for the price.

I think thats a nice match for the DL, just use some 'throttle management' ..post some pics when its finished, would like to see a pic of it hovering too!!

Hello everyone!
This is my first post on RCU. I didn't read all the posts in this discusion, because it is too much, just last ones.
I'm also getting to buy DL 50, but I'am a little bit confused what I see on this page http://svgroup.en.alibaba.com/group/50409291/R_C_Airplane_Hobby_Model_Engine.html
I really don't know which is the latest DL-50? Why are there so much 50cc engines? Some have DL, other SV mark.
My friends have DL-50 V2 and they are working great! I don't know why there should be new versions?
