Hi

Heres a link to a firewall drilling guide/template I have created for mounting the DL50 engine.

http://www.dlenginesaustralia.com/docs/dl50firewalltemplate.pdf

Also links to it under the engines page, or the links page

Requires Adobe 5 or higher to read. And you will need to turn off page scaling before printing it out.

You can do this in Adobe Acrobat by going to File/Print, then in the Page Handling section of the Page dialog box, set the Page Scaling drop-down to NONE.

Double-check with ruler after printing for accuracy

If you think the template needs any changes/additions let me know.

Cheers

Scott

These DL threads just keep going and going

Thanks for the template. That will be very helpful. Also, does the dl come with standoffs and hardware or am i going to have to take a trip to ace to get mounting screws.

And one more question, are you guys loctiting everything?

Cambo,

I cannot say much on the hardware for the current generation so I'll leave that to someone with a newer engine, but I will say YES, locktite everything, that's a must do for every gas plane. If you are using metal gear servos locktite the screws that hold the servo arms on as well. Not a good thing when a servo arm falls off in flight,

Look at it like this, if it's metal and uses a bolt/screw locktite it. I use blue for everything but the muffler. For the muffler I use Permatex High temp gasket sealer. I just open the tube, stick the bolt in it to cover the threads and bolt on the muffler/header. I've never had one come loose doing it this way. Some use red locktite with good luck and I've seen people use the green two-part locktite as well.

The latest DL (new version) that I have came with the standoffs and 4 bolts to attach the standoffs, but nothing to attach to the firwall. Don't know if you get anything more from Bob at DLUSA?

RPM report. DL-50 #166

1400' altitude,Temp. 65° F, dewpoint 50° F, Barometric pressure 30.21 and rising.

PT Planes carbon fiber 22x8n showed 7920 rpm this evening. I don't keep it hammered so I've never heard it rip. Anyone know what RPM you have to turn a 22" prop for the tips to go supersonic?

I'll recheck because the light was not great. But last time I tached it, got over 7600, so it's not way out in left field or anything. I did richen the top end a little last time a flew too, may have been just a tad lean.

I think it's time to start shopping for a 23" blade

Scott

11900 rpm. http://www.rcaerobats.net/downloads/TipSpeedGraph.htm You can thank Aerobob later. I'm at mach .65 with my Vess 23A. That's turning 7400rpm. That's right about 490 mph.

Scott,

I'd bet you would rip the prop in the air That's a lot of rpm for that engine....

Thats crazy rpms, your way out of the power band scott. Max power is 7500rpm and you don't want that on the ground if it is going to turn that in the air. Unless your going to hover all day long.

What version motor do you have.

Al,

The "N" on that prop means "new". Pt props changed their blade shape a bit earlier this year. At least that's what TBM has on thier web site.

http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/PropellerPT.htm

it's right above the table that lists the sizes
