hi i have a dl-50(what else!) am very happy with my engine. My question is this: runs great, slight burble on idle and around 1/3 - mid throttle, engine has about 8 litres of fuel through it. sounds powerful and feels powerful, slight smoke popping out at idle. seems slightly righ on low end. if i lean lsn it sounds smoother and can idle lower and burble is less noticable during slow transition. but sounds less powerful feels slightly less powerful but could just be running smoother, am running a bolly wood prop 22x8.
my question is which state of tune is more correct? is on an MTW can. spark plug is more black than white.

Thanks

I found the low needle is quite sensitive. If set slightly rich, the engine will burble in the middle, when transite from high to middle. Right now, it is at 1.25 turns out. Greate transition both ways. The high is at 1.5 turns out to get the good high RPM.

I would think in your case, the low could be on the rich side.

Greetings all,

My web site host had an electrical explosion and fire on Saturday so my website and email have been down since then. They're telling me it should be back up by tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. In the meantime, I can still be reached by phone (972-869-9313) and personal email account bobkra@hotmail.com

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,
Bob

Wild...what are the odds of that. Good luck with getting the site back up smoothly.

I've got mine dialed in. Running Xoar 22X8, it's got no burble, fast transitions and 7100 top end. However, it will not idle below 2000 with the throttle closed. I will have to solder the hole shut.

Hey everyone, quick question.... I have an H9 extra 260 and I'm getting a DL 50 for it, now are the 2 5/8 standoffs that come with it long enough??? For a DA 50 aplication they say to use the 3 inch ones so I'm not sure if the DA 50 dimentions are the same as of the DL 50, length wise at least....... any info on that would be great, thanks

Hey guys, Im thinking about getting a DL50 for a Skyshark Christen Eagle. I will have to use a 20 inch prop due to ground clearance. Will that be a problem with this engine, causing it to turn up more than it needs to?
Thanks,
John

coronabob,
maybe try running a larger prop. 20x8 is small for a dl-50. my fav is 22x8, but lots like the 23x8. thats 3 inches bigger than yours. your idle will come down with a bigger prop. try this before closing the hole up. you may not still get 7100 rpm, then again maybe you will! let us know how it goes

salerno,

Sorry, my bad. I do have a Xoar 22X8. I have edited my post.

BTW, the Xoar 22X8 gives my WH 330LX unlimited vertical and good pullout. Compared to my older BME 3.5 that I had on the plane, the DL-50 is simply awsome. Other than the fast idle, it runs like a top.

Try the Vess 22B, I had this same issue with my engine and the Xoar the plane just wanted to float on by and it would take a long time for the engine to come down in Rpm. The Vess has more down line breaking, which i think loads the engine a little more on the low end. Bob at DL USA carries them.

hey, i just noticed on my dl-50 where the crankcase halves join, there is a little fuel that comes out on case. engine is still running fine but will it start to run crap? does it matter. is there potential for tuning problems? should i pull the motor apart and fit new gaskets?
