Sandor,
Can you explain your comment about the Elan with the "almost a gallon" fuel tank? Do you mean the landing gear you have designed for the Elan needs to be stronger for fuel tanks of a gallon size?
Thanks,
Don

Thank you Sandor.....

The reason I asked is because the Sullivan tank Boomerang Jets USA is selling is a 125 ounce fuel tank.

kylargo ,
Check with AV8RK from post #199. He has had a lot of trouble getting his to fit right. Send him a "PM" and I bet he'll help you out. Hopefully you won't have to go to all the work that he has had to do on his Elan.

I for one ran into this problem.Chances are you will have to lap sand the tube sockets in the wing and sand on the spar tube it's self. Fit the spar tube into the fuse section first. Once satisified with that, remove the spar and fit it into each wing panel one a time. Sand carefully so that you can slide the spar fully in, while trying to retain as tight of a fit as you can get.

Once you get them to fit, install the spar back into the fuse along with the anti-rotation pins, and without the booms on see if the wing panels will slide on & off of the spar and rotation pins together. Then fit the booms in place and try the fit of the wing again to make sure it will still go on and square up with the booms.

I found that with the booms installed, they tend to alter the rotation pins slightly in they seem to spread the pins apart when you fully push the booms in flush with the molded fuse wing root section.

For those that wanted to see my install.

Its a P120 SE with a 2ltr tank from RS components.

Jet1-A retracts(XL).

I have had 10 flights with a P80 and it goes well, but the P120 just gives it that little bit more "Fun Factor".

But remember to use the throttle sensibly. Tee hee. !!!!!! Alan C does NOT suggest you use anythinh more than a P80.

Regards

Yes I had to do quite a bit of work to get wings fitted. The post from Countryboy is good advice, thats how I did it. I also found that the tailbooms have to be spread slightly when fitting the tail plane.

Alan,
Do you know the dimensions and capacity of the Sullivan tank?
