Not going to get much done tonight. Patricia did send the correct hand servo mounts and the result is shown below. As a reference they must be the same hand as the flap servo mounts. Dubro 4-40 hardware and Dubro #493 horns. Covering is cut away from underneath the horn plates and 12 minute epoxy is used to secure the whole assembly. The horns did locate perfectly with the ply insets. I used JR heavy duty servo arms on the servo side.
EDIT ADD:
The Dubro horns allow me to match each half to have the same throw without using a "matchbox"!

Dave,
Do you have a picture of where you put the plywood insets?
Thanks,
Don

The plywood insets come installed from the factory on all control surfaces. A very nice touch!

Does anyone have an extra "flap" control horn by any chance? It is the clear horn that mounts to one of the flaps. I only had one in my kit and of course I need two of them....
Thanks,
Don

Don,

I am sure a quick call to Patricia will net you what you need, but if you've got to have it now, grab yourself a piece of aluminum of the appropriate thickness and use your existing one as a template. Overlay it on you piece of aluminum and using a scribe, trace the original horn out onto the aluminum blank. Using a bandsaw, rough cut it to shape and then use small files to dress it out. Finish off by drilling the holes with numbered drill bits. An hour of your time, and your good to go.

when i come to fit out my elan i think i will be tempted to recut the flap horns as it appears the holes are in the wrong place.
they should be in a line to facilitate the correct geometry.

Will someone please tell me how they got the retract air tank into the holes in the formers? I was able to get the brake tank in, but the retract tank is too long to fit in.

Thnx - Bob

Countryboy,
I have contacted Patricia but she doesn't have any. She has been in touch with Alan and he is going to send it to me. Not sure how long it will take to get here from Europe though.

Great idea but I don't have a band saw and I don't know anyone who does. I will just have to wait until my replacement arrives.

Thank You,
Don

Don,

Your flap horn was mailed yesterday from London, so will be with you next week.

Alan.

Can anyone who has an Elan give me the dimension from the wing retract mount inner edge to the wheel well opening. I want to check if oleos I have will fit.

its adjustable so a 140-160mm will do fine.
it needs a pretty long leg..

From what you say the standard Jet1A leg which I have will not fit, it is 120mm from the axel centre to the trunnion block. I now have a spare set of retracts / oleos since I lost my Velox! So the question is do I buy another Velox which I have all the parts for or buy an Elan and have to buy new oleos etc. Why did Alan not design the Elan to fit the already available Jet 1A legs? Can you make Elan fit oleos with 10mm stubs instead of pins?

Best regards

John
