Alan, I there going to be any factory support with the flaking paint issue on the servo covers? My Elan is moving, however paint is lifting on the covers, like big chunks. WHMC

I am pleased to assure our customers that the Behotec retracts package we put together for the prototype Elan remains a perfect fit in the released Elan without any modifications.

Started the radio plate layout. The valves will be mounted to the end of it at a right angle so the whole assembly removes easily. I solved the air tank install problem. I removed the tank floor as it didn't have hardly any glue holding it in place anyway. I'll re-install it with some hardwood blocks and screws. Sorry for the out of focus valve pic. I'll have some good shots when install is complete.
BTW...The batteries will fit in the nose section easily. I test balanced it and all looks fine with NOT having to add any nose weight!

As much as I'd like to see more competition for Jet1a ( I hear dreamworks' gear is nice ), I worry about using anything other than trailing-link mains on grass as per pireps (pilot reports) on previous Boomer models.........

Bob,
This is embarrassing for me, as you can imagine. I try to supply a good product. Sometimes get let down.

I have had serious words with the factory in China about the poor painting on the grey plastic servo mounts. They have said they are going to improve it with a good primer and that will solve the problem from here on.

I realise that doesn't solve it for you but as you will have seen on this thread there is a colour match available to paint them with. (post 136)

The cost is modest, just a few dollars, but if you send us the bill for the paint, we will reimburse you.

Alan

Alan - sent you a PM asking how do you get the Robart air tank into the bottom of the fusealge?

Bob

If you don't want to try removing the fuel tank tray as Dave R. did, you can simply slide the tank through the back edge of the intake opening ( left intake in my case) until the back edge of the tank clears the rear tray former, and the tank will drop to the bottom of the fuse. You can then finesse the tank forward through the openings in the formers until they rest in the intended location. It will be a tight fit, but they will go in.

Just to let you all know, we have had tons and tons of flights using the Altecare gear with out any problems on grass or asphalt.

The Elan we are flying is the prototype here in the USA.

Folks,
I have the radio install just about buttoned up! The rudders and elevators are on a Y harness. Both ailerons, both flaps, steering, retracts, ECU, and brakes will have their own channel. I mounted TAM's failsafe unit on top of the RX. Anybody see any problem with that?

The P70 will be mounted as far aft as possible to aid balancing. We'll finish up all other work and shift it to help with final balance. Gonna cleanup and wait for the Sullivan tank to arrive before finishing the install work.

Dave, I noticed that when you mounted your robart retracts that you moved them in towards the wheel wells....Was that because of the length of the struts sent with the retract package?? I have the same retracts and I'm getting ready to install mine as well...Just wanted to make sure I was installing them correctly...Did you have to grind away some of the fiberglass to mount them properly in the seats ? Mine are too wide to "drop right in" Thanks for the help! Rick
