Hey CCFPILOT,

will you please tell me how your nose-gunner canopy is breaking? Then, maybe I can help.

(Hobbico does not "make it's money" from replacement parts, and I gurantee we don't purposely make components of the model weak or fragile so we can sell replacements. Stocking replacement parts is a burden because it consumes warehouse space that could be used for more profitable items that have a much higher turnover rate. We are obligated to stock replacement parts as a service.)

The first one cracked around the nose gun because the plastic was just to thin. I think the second one cracked because I brushed the nose gun against the bench and broke off the gun, which I think caused the crack.

If the plastic were a little heaver, particularly around the gun, it sure would be better. The molding process cause the plastic to stretch to thin in that area.

I have read on this thread about some of them breaking when dropped on the floor. Anyway, I'm on my third canopy.

Also I'm wondering how many flight most people can get before the radio compas falls off. I lost mine of the first flight, but got a new one with the canopy. I now only use it for display.

Hi again CCFPILOT.

I guess it's too late now, but maybe (maybe - I can't speak for Product Support) you could have gotten a replacement for free if the first nose-gunner canopy just cracked all by itself.

Regarding the one that broke when the nose gun got bumped, I once broke the nose gun itself when I bumped my leg against the nose gun too, but that was my own fault. Way back in the beginning of this thread I suggested removing the nose-gunner canopy (with the nose gun) while transporting the model, and placing a barrier in front of (and behind) the model so nobody can walk by and bump into the guns and break them off. I don't know if I would expect it to hold up if dropped on the floor thoughwell, MAYBE on carpet.

Maybe I'll see if we can pull future nose guns from thicker plastic as you suggested (but I know this won't help you now).

I don't know what you mean by the "radio compass."

I haven't really helped you (except for suggesting to place a barrier in front of your guns), but thank you for your suggestions.

Status: offline 		I have found when installing cowls and nose cones or any plastic parts that need to be attached with a screw or bolt, to smear a little epoxy around the area where the hole has been drilled on the inside. Let dry before installing. This will strengthen the area around the hole keeping it from cracking. Works for me. The nose piece on the 25 is thin and brittle. I too have had to replace it. You could try to carefully coat the inside with epoxy. My remedy is to not even breath on it............

I use Eurokit retracts. The nose retract is for 4kg planes too, the same strengh as Robart, because the space to house it is not big enough
One time, the nose retract did not lock and cleared itself. The nose gunner was intact !!! She glided on the grass. I just lost a little piece of wood in the nose gear door which hold a hinge.

Now I strengthened the nose retract by drilling and now using a 6mm axis to hold the leg instead of 5mm. Yesterday I did the 5th and 6th flight without any problem.

If you need to strenghted the nose anyway, you way use resin+glass tissue inside the bottow part of the nose.

I saw your post re: the possibility of pulling the nose canopy from a thicker stock. That would be great...but I was wondering if anything could be done to clear up the foggyness of both the nose canopy as well as the main canopy? I, and a lot of others have spent considerable time detailing the cockpit and nose areas but much is lost because of the limited clarity of the "glass" parts. Wing Mfg. provides crystal clear replacement canopies for their B25 and all the detail I put in mine (after I did the TF B25) really shines. If you'd like, I could post some pics comparing and contrasting the two manufacturers products. Whatcha' think??

Sure, thanks. Go ahead and post some pics contrasting the two windscreens. I think the material used on our canopies is polycarbonate (like Lexan?). Maybe, for some reason, it's more difficult to get a good, clear pull from that material (?). Maybe others use butyrate (spelling?). I know our Great Planes kits (not ARFs) use butyrate. But many paints don't work with that and you can paint polycabronate with many types of paint.

I am not CCFPILOT, but i received already damaged nose canopy. It is nowonder - too slimpsy. I use that as is - i have no choice. Now i bought new spare canopy, and waiting postbox.

i used Gy351 on ail and e-sky heli gyro on rudder. Perfect effect!! But afterwards, i demount gyros from plane. It is deny by competition rule, and don't needed for this plane. TF Mitchel fly perfect without any gyro.

You guys are Hot filming under the plane on an approach...This is cool. I am in Toulouse right now and i'm surprized fot the little availability of RC material there is here in France. I t seems that even in a city where most poeple work for AEROSPATIALE that build the A-380 there is so little interest for rc.

Cool filming I like the under belly and the "gear door close-up".

I am impressed with your flying! You have mastered the cross-wind landing (and I can hear the wind blowing in the microphone) with your B-25. Normand, I noticed that too a few years back in France - struggled to find a decent RC mag over there. Don't suppose you caught any of Le Tour?

My B25 is now all finished bar the clearcoat. Hope to get that on this week if I can get my compressor working again then will be able to fire up the new OS 70's for the first time. Mid winter here, and cold/wet by our standards (don't expect any sympathy from the Canadians....)

I received this week the brakes system from robart for my B-25. I´m very because the breakes system doesn´t fit exactly with the robart retracts. I want know if some of you that use this system had the same problem. The problem is the distance between the two pins of the break plate are smaller than the external diameter of the struts. May I reduced this pins or the struts?

Additionaly the hole of the wheels are bigger than retracts axle. ? Some of you recommend use some plastics spacers to fit it? Do robart sell it?

I really appreciate your ideas to solve this problem? Somebody knows which is thediference between the Part # 140SET Brake Hub Set for the 4” to 4 ½” Tuff Treads Aluminum Wheels and the new Part #144-1 Brakes for 3 1/2" - 4" Robart Scale Wheels for 3/16" Axle?

Status: offline 		I've had this question a couple of times in the last week about our sets - we've found that some of the struts vary in size for some reason on the 310's and B-25's, but we make them in all axle sizes and strut sizes so it isn't a problem.

I don't know how much you will be able to take off of those struts (they are tubing).

Status: offline 		I had an opportunity to test out the modifications I made to the front retract which had been bending due to grass field conditions. All is well after todays outing. For those of you that missed it.. I heat treated the pin. Installed a 1/4 in spacer under the spring and added a rubber gromet to the slider to act as a bump stop. The problem on grass fields is that the strut spring is too soft, bottoming out on rough surfaces bending the pin. Would be nice if Robart would acknowledge this problem and provide a substitute spring to combat the bottoming issue..
