Why is this so amazing? This is like Beanie Babies 10(?) years ago? People with money to spend are spending it. Whatever their reason, it is irrelevant. Gold was 800USD/oz around the 1980, then it dropped to $300. Now it's back over $700. 700 in 1980 dollars is much more than it is currently worth. It all depends on the demand.

If you have Cox stuff to unload, do it while the gettin' is good, if the money is more important than owning the engine. I predict this is peak price for many years. The word is out that Cox is scarce, and after the "hysteria" dies off prices will decline.

What's interesting is not how much they're spending, but what it is they think they're buying.

It's appropriate that you would mention gold, gkamysz, because it's the classic example of how exchange value trumps use value (and how they're so unrelated). We're seeing commodity fetishism.

The exact opposite would be to visit Jett Engineering, meet Dub Jett face-to-face and give him $400 for an engine that he made, which he then physically hands over to you.

I believe that Coxmania is far from simply being a matter of people with money spending money. But, then, this kind of stuff interests me.

I generally take ffedback with a little grain of salt when I read them but if you check out this particular seller I shrink back... Seems to sell mostly DVDs and some seem to be less than legit.

$400 for a Venom is going rate. I expect it to go over $500.

I didn't look at the other guy's auction at all. When I see someone fishing like that I just keep going.

Looks like the $325 "vintage Cox TD.020 new in box model airplane engine NIB" didn't do very well, so he's relisted it at only $225 (190173735693).

I just sold a Venom for around $150.00. It was used and had no box. It was a sweet enginr though. I won a couple of mouse contests with it.
I have a black widow and some Norvel and original VA engines I may be listing as it does seem to be a good time to sell this stuff.
