Well see when I built this years ago I didnt really know much about rc so I didnt put alerons on it and now Im going to have to rework the wing and put alerons on it,i thought about putting strip alerons on it but not sure I think ill just put them on it like the plan states.Im also going to make a taildragger out of it and recover it different I like the one in this forum above that teebee built it is a sharp plane,my covering job probly wont look that good but it will look better than it does now.lol.Im going with alminum landing gear and I think about 3 or 4 inch balloon tires since I dont have a runway and have to jump an ocassional cow patty.I would like to thank all you guys out there for all the input and help, you have really been a big help.God bless you all and merry christmas.talk later.Billy

I hope you too will have a Merry christmas too...I got a little lost while building my Kadet...and was not sure what power I wood need ...somehow my wing got streightened and barn door ailerons popped in...the verticle stab was pushed back and the rudder seamed to come out looking like an Extra 300...which meant the elevator redesigned itself to fit...next thing i knew a fat pair of wheel pants wound up on the landing gear and a tail wheel replaced the front gear...a box somehow got installed in the fuse with bomb bay doors...and a homemade cowling appeared...one night..... even three light systems showed up..with a lazor beam coming from the bottom...and somewhere along the way a glider release found it's way to the top of the wing....all of a sudden my three channel Kadet needed a nine channel radio...and then i felt like ...Ken getting a devorce...when Barbie ended up flying the thing....so I bellied up and put a satio .91 for her power....just my thougths and the engine subject....any engine will do for such a good flying plane...again ...Merry Christmas...Joe

I flew my Kadet Senior for years with an ST.29. It wasn't a rocketship but it flew well. Loops, rolls, inverted - I had a lot of fun with it. In a strong breeze it would hover. If I was to build another I wouldn't hesitate to use the same ST.29 (I still have it). I learned to fly with this airplane/engine combo - solo'd on the 6th flight.

That engine should be a good choice; I would try an 11x5 rather than the usual 10x6, since the plane is draggy and slow. Jim

Without a doubt, that is the best looking Senior Kadet I've ever seen.

A 15x6 would be about right, assuming that you have enough clearance for such a prop.

Whatwheel,

I've got a Kadet with a .91 4-stroke on it. I've got a 15X8 MAS prop on it and I LOVE the combination. If you can't control the throttle, don't even think about it. Just a couple of clicks and it still flies the slowest of anything at my field. I love the combination and I always snicker when I see guys with 40LAs or something similar that ALWAYS fly full throttle. I started with a 50 Saito and it flew it great. I stepped up to a 72 and then a 91. I still fly the same speeds, I just do more with the plane now. IF you have some capacity for throttle control, a big engine doesn't instantly mean that you're going to tear the wings off of it. I had actually thought about putting one of my Super Tigre 2300s in a highly modified one.

You're going to build the one for the G2300 out of solid carbon fiber, right, Tcrafty? 8>

I'm with you. A Saito .91 makes the model more fun to fly, as long as you can get the engine to idle low enough to land.

Ed, I have a engine question not related to the Sig Kadet. I have a Veco 61 that I have had since I bought it new in the 1970's. The engine starts and runs great for 1 flight but on the 2nd flight the engine dies immediately after takeoff. I have had it on 2 planes in the last year. It was on a Taurus. Now I have it in a Christen Eagle 1. It was mounted upright on the Taurus and it is inverted on the Christen eagle. The engine has good compression after the first flight but after the engine sets for a few weeks the compression goes away. I have replaced the 2 O rings on the idle mixture disc. I know my fuel tank is in good shape. The square area opening of the brass barrel is not clogged up nor is the fuel line fitting or the inside of the brass barrel. The rear nozzel on the muffler broke off in a crash years ago. I use to never use a pressure fitting from the muffler to the fuel tank and the engine always ran fine. The engine seemed not to run as good with a pressure line hooked up. I know you know something about Veco 61's because I have seen post of yours about this engine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Lynn Wilson

Hey, maybe I can skin it in carbon fiber!!! Yeah, then clear it. THAT would be cool. THen again, it would look silly with an aluminum spinner and a wood prop. Maybe I'd better not..

I AM thinking about putting a 2300 in it though and bashing the heck out of the kit. Hmmmm. Maybe a swept back wing....
