hello, im not going to be in the market for buying a $200 hellie for quite a while but i would like to get some ideas. i "Had" a mosquito micro 3ch and its just too eaisy for me, even with the chiep pice of junk i could go around the house and land it on a fan blade or even on a cd. it broken now due to chiep plastic parts flying apart for no appearent reason (the drive wheel to the main rotor) and i also had a piccolo and used it so much the battery died (so addicting!)

anyway, im wondering if i should just jump to the arobatic 6ch choppers, i learn quick and i have been tinkering with r/c cars since ive been 8.

Thanks.

If you can fly a Piccolo, you are ready for anything. I would recommend saving up and getting something decent, like a T-Rex, since you already have proven interest.

trex 450, black hawk 450, or falcon 3d (after upgrades) are all very good helis to start off with. they are not so big where u cant fly then inside but they are not to small where you cant fly them outside....even on a windy day here in FL my falcon 3dse does great. it just depends on how much you want to spend....

Ummm, I think considering the fact that he said

I think it's safe to say he won't be spending $300 to $700 on his first heli. I'm guessing that he would probably prefer to keep it at around $200, if this is the case then a esky king2 or other 300 size electric RTF might be best.

did he mean piccolo or PiccoZ? he said he killed the battery, do piccolo batteries die? I know the piccoZ batteries do...

The piccolo batteries were replaceable, just like the TRex and other electric helicopters.
Additionally the Piccolo required more than 3 channels to control so I'm really thinking that he meant the PiccoZ.

Ahh... Yes, that does fit the story more closely.
Thomas, can you confirm that? Was it a 2 channel Picco Z that you flew the battery out of?

oops, sorry i ment pico z. duh it was fun while it lasted, i could do anything with that, land on fan blades, on and around my head on the controller but i do know going from 2 and 3channel to 6channels will be quit a learning curve, but im skilled with my thumbs.

i just want something that is able to do most the arobic tricks like rolls and inverted flying and doesnt cost a arm and a leg. i also want to avoid models riddled with major problems. 220 is MAXIMUM amout i will put in. i also want to look into scratch and dent sales and used models that are almost free from major problems and still in good tune.

but i also have a lot of training done with a TOUCHY 3ch, i want more fluid movement not just move and spin but lean and flip.

doesnt look like a bad heli for only 100 bucks

http://youtube.com/watch?v=o3ubczvy1f4&mode=related&search=

seems alittle to windy for that 300 size heli, cant find anymore vids of it though....its a very basic heli.

going from a 3ch to a 6ch is going to be a huge jump, i dont think ull be able to jump into rolls right away....and only spending 100 bucks on a 6 ch, its prolly not going to be the easiest to fly. but a 6ch should be able to roll/flip

Sorry but somethign that is both good at 3D aerobatics that can hover inverted steadily is going to cost much more than $220. And you have to factor in the cost of repairs when you crash. I'd suggest saving up a little more or just buying a good simulator for leaning on for now since there is no repair costs

I think you could technically do a roll on a 4 ch heli like the honey bee fp, just make sure you're high enough to do it. If you want to fly inverted then you need a ccpm heli which does typically come with a 6ch remote.

the 6 channels are typically, aileron, elevator, throttle, pitch, rudder and gyro (not in that order on the receiver).

ahh the heck with a simulator, its going to be a junker, now if i put around 250 into it, i would get one.

besides, im not too shabby at this stuff and i know my limits, i wont go from a beginner to thinking im a pro like that, i will get the feel of it before i try anthing trickey.

my best bet is to get a used one in good tune. i have a local hobby shop that lets you train at their store and will give you tips on flying and tuning.
