Seems like Zenoah now have the G26 on EI. Its a matter of time they will push it to G45 or 62....

Anyone run them already? Obviously the price in US will be bad but not over here in Asia Pacific where G20EI can be had for less than US225.

I've got one but haven't run it as yet. The carb location is an absolute shocker.
The throttle arm is right at the front of the motor. It took a while but i finally came up with a pulley mounted to the crankcase. The throttle servo pulls on a cable which pulls on the throttle arm.
All i have to find now is a decent airframe for it

Here's 2 photos of the throttle arm on my G-26EI, both the original and the one that's included in the box
that looks like a nose wheel sterring arm.

The top view shows the original, before I took it off.

The front view shows the nylon arm mounted under the carb. Very easy to attach a ball link, an EZ connector or a clevis.

Don't even think about using the metal "arm" that comes stock on the engine. It's way too small.

BTW, check the mounting of the adapter block and carb before you try to run the engine. My adapter block was rotated 180 degrees, but the carb was oriented correctly. The engine would start and run up to about 1/2 throttle. I rotated the block, remounted the carb and it runs just fine.

One more thing, the 3rd photo showa an ammeter in series with the battery. That's 1.99 AMPS at half throttle. Get a BIG battery.

A friend bought one for his GS Taylorcraft.. Started instantly, ran strong and smooth, and has never missed a beat, with an 18-6 Xoar prop.......Typical Zenoah

Yep, I just throw them up there and they stick. Than I take the picture. Quickly!

BTW, C&H is working on a replacement ignition for this engine, once I send them mine to measure stuff.

I guess the assembly person had his glasses on upside down that day.

Mine runs great now. Will be running several props for RPM and noise numbers over the weekend.

Eugene, Bob's 26 doesnt have EI. Its the magneto version. But I agree, it does run very good and strong.

The engines on the Toni Clark site are his own conversion.... they've been converting them to EI for a while using the Falkon ignition.

Dick said what I was thinking here.... The little 26 can be a really good engine. But with really good quality, low amp draw ignitions out there, and loads of feedback regarding those OEM carb blocks, excess case material....etc, why didn't they pay attention to all, or at least more of the details needing attention? They could have really made a difference with a new release, rather than only throwing a power hungry ignition on an engine that has been very successfully modified with aftermarket parts for so many years now. People are still better off converting an old G26 than they are buying one of these new releases.

Chad,

I wanted a g26 recently and arrived at the same conclusion as yourself. I therefore got a RCIgnition g26 Lite which, for an extra $25, is a much more useful engine with it's lower drain ignition, less weight, sensible carb linkage position etc. I felt that Zenoah could have gone from a very good engine in the G26 to a great one in the G26ei but missed the opportunity.

Let's hope they come up with a MkII sometime soon!

Maninder.

Yep, the G-38 is a good engine, but don't expect it to be lightweight or overly powerful.

It'll last forever.

And it comes with magneto ignition.
