You could find that the exhaust restriction from the Pits type silencer is causing a back pressure and resulting overheating, go for a cannister it may help.

Hi all, did any one notice that they had to put in up thrust on a Da-85?

Also for curiousity what are some weights out there? Mine is without pilot or wheelpants and no spinner 20.5 pounds dry. Gear on plane is two 2 cell 2100 thunder power for reciever, one 2 cell 2100 for ignition w/ fromeco reg,3 smartfly switches, smartfly EQ6 w/ turbo reg, JR9100 reciever, hitec 5955's w/ JR 8711 for rudder, DA-85 W/ slimline Pitts 1 servo for throttle and choke, carbon wing tube(troy built models tbm)don't forget to cut the length, xoar 26x10 2 blade prop.

I got 11 flights on it. It's ballistic!!!!!!!!!

out of box Da-85 ran strong haven't touched the needles yet 10 min flights less than a half of tank gas used each flight, scary !!!! I'm tempted to switch to a 20 ounce gas tank w/ gas stopper.[/size]

Thanks for the replys. That pitts muffler did cut a lot of ower away from the engine Ihad to richen both needles almost 1 1/2 turns to get it to run. I just cut the end of the muffer off and the 2 outlets are all the way to the top inside of the can part. I cut them off and I'm gonna weld the end back on and go from there.....

What kind of issue are you having? I noticed with mine it wants to head toward the ground only when I apply full throttle at level flight. Nothing drastic though, also mine I had to put in several clicks of up trim.

I put in some washers behind the da-85 to give it up thrust because mine too would go towards the ground when throttle was applied and when in KE, it would go toward belly. After the washers were put in it does it a lot less about half way less. I'm going to do one more washer on each side to give it more up thrust. I also have it cg'd at 8 ". I'm going to in time make it more tail heavy. Maybe 8 and half inch's back

I have one of these Sukhoi's with a 110 BME in it. It is the all time best H-9 design in my opinion. Mine weighs 19lbs dry with one 3000 2s lipo for the receiver and ignition. It turns a 26X10 NX prop at 8400 on the ground. It truly is the best multi purpose plane I have had.

The cowl hides the welds but you are right, I should have cleaned them up.
I am thinking of selling the two planes and my van. Time to go bigger....

Hey Mike...I'm about half way done with my new Sukhoi SU26MM and ready to start thinking about my exhaust system. I have read the forums and see a couple of different views on what to use. I want to use a canister muffler system and was wanting to know your suggestion on the right canister muffler to use with my Sukhoi / DA-85 combo? Any help here will be fully appreciated.
