I have an older Super Tigre 3000 that has been on the shelf for a few years, but I am going to start using it again soon. I've alwaysed used 15% nitro in the engine, but don't buy it anymore. I now only use YS 20/20 fuel. Is this an ok fuel to use in the motor? I have an 18 X 8 prop and am at 5600 feet above sea level. Would a non idle bar plulg be better for this fuel - engine combo also? Thanks.

Your YS 20/20 fuel would have both too much oil content and too much nitromethane. The SuperTigre S-3000 was originally intended to be broken-in on fuel with about 15% oil content and then run on fuel with 10%-12% oil content after breakin. The engine runs best when the nitro is kept below 10% by volume. 0%-5% also work well. When using a low-oil content fuel, SuperTigre recommended that the oil be 100% castor oil, which is all they used in their engines. A castor/synthetic blend will work OK, too.

The problem with the high-nitro/high-oil fuel, like a 20/20 blend is that the high-nitro content will combine with the high-oil content and you'll likely experience detonation.

For a glow plug, we'd normally use an O.S. #8 plug, but many fliers have used the O.S. Type F sucessfully, too.

Yes, the Type F plug is a 4-stroke plug.

I ran the engine today on 15% Moki/Tigre blend Magnum fuel and it worked out great for the test run. Now I have to put it in the air.

I tried the four stroker plug in it yesterday and it seemed to run a little better and have a touch more power.

BAX, can you reccomend a specific fuel that would be best to run in this engine?
Also have one of these like brand new but is a little gummy can you also tell me the best way to un-gum it?

To "un-gum" an engine, remove the rear cover and cylinder head and submerge it in fresh model fuel. After a few hours, old fuel residue should start to dissolve and allow the engine to become free.

For the large SuperTigre engines, but not the G-2300, you want to break it in using a fuel with no less than 15% oil content. Nitro can be 0%-10%, but 5% is really a happy medium. Once the engine's well-broken-in, you can go to a fuel with 10%-12% oil content and the same nitro content. All-castor oil is preferred as the lubricant at the low oil levels. Some fuel maker have "ST", "Super-T", or "SuperTigre Fuel" blends. They usually have the 10% oil content and low nitro.

BAX couple more questions if you don't mind .Never ran/used one of these. Have always used gas engines
Can you tell me what the performance specs on this motor might be?
Proper prop size for peak performance and power?
Weight class preferred for this engine with the idea that I prefer plenty of power in anything I fly?
