ORIGINAL: Red Max I know I'm replying to an old thread, but I was just going thru the forum to see if anyone had reports on the Kanke 90A 1/4 size Monocoupe. I own one, but have not flown it yet. Waiting for nicer weather. I obtained in on a trade. It has a Quadra 35 gas engine. According to the manuel that came with it, it may be overpowered with this engine. I am a little concerned with the weight issue with this engine. it seems a 1.50 four stroke would fly it well (scale like). Do you own one , and if so, how does it fly? Im sure it will be a floater. The person that used to own it said the only reason he traded it was because he had not been flying long, and he was a little afraid of it, but according to what he told me, the controls were not set up very well. Said he did not use a computer radio, and it would not maneuver well. The Q35 is certainly much more power than necessary and a 1.50 four stroke would be a better choice in my opinion. The 1.50 would provide much better than scale performance. I flew mine with a .90 two stroke to begin with and it was plenty of power for scale flight. I then switched to a ST 2500 (1.5 cu/in) which would almost hover the Monocoupe! My biggest concern with the Q35 would be potential vibration damage as the airplane is built very light. The airplane is extemely easy to fly and reminds me of a 1/4 scale clipped wing Cub more than anything. Be ready to use lots of rudder/aileron co-ordination and you'll probably want as much aileron travel as you can get unless you don't want to to anything but big barrell rolls. Just my .02 cents, good luck with it.
