Richard I don't think all the JUG's had the stars and bars set up some of the books I have show the S&B on one wing side top and bottom and some have then on oppisite sides of the wing on the top and bottom it doesn't seem to have a set pattern, the P-47's fighting in europe were swapping parts so frequently that there wasn't alot ryme or reason to the markings exept having the right tail colors and some black and white stripes. as a side note one of our club members was in England working on planes durring WWII,and when I brought my JUG in to the club meeting, he said the invasion stripes I had painted on my plane were just a little to nice, the day before the invasion the comander told them to start painting, they got all the planes done but they were a far cry from the neet work done on some of the models we all do,they were up all night getting the work done on the 5th of june.
