Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced what I just have. In respect to my favorite rc website, RC Universe, I'll refer to the other forum as RCG. I think most of you know who I mean. Anyway, I joined in Aug. with the intention of light hearted yet informative chat with fellow modelers...exactly as so on this website. I responded to a few threads and racked up about a dozen posts. Next thing I know, I can no longer access their website WITH MY COMPUTER! Looks like I've apparently been banned from getting back on. Went to my neighbor's house and got access to it just fine. What gives here? I've not made any offensive comments and no cursing...that's not who I am. See all my posts for proof. Yet with no warning or reason, I'm out without even so much as an emailed expaination. I'm thinking that instead of turning away people with positive modeler instruction and tips everyone might use, they should be rolling out the red carpet trying to get new members to join their 'not so active' rc forum. They just make this rc forum here look that much better when trying to decide where to spend our computer time. If anyone has an expaination...I would love to hear it. I guess I really shouldn't care less, but it's aggrivating to me because I know I didn't do anything bad.

clean out your temporary internet files, including cookies and retry. Your PC may be causing the problem, since you can get on from another computer.

Thomas,
Good advice but I do all that every night for safety anyway along with updating my anti-spyware programs when available. That's not it. It can't be personal...they don't know me and it's not anything I said...unless someone stole my identity and mouthed off. I'm clueless.

it is on your system...

a website wouldn't do an IP ban unless it is REALLY a big deal....

SEnd an email to a mod there and ask

Not speaking for this site....I'm just a lowly user.....

but it appears to be an issue with another site and should be taken up with them....

I wouldn't call Apple to get information on my MSN account would I

Not trying to sound harsh, just looking at it from another viewpoint

What could have happened to my computer system to make it fail to receive one particular site?? I'm about to clean and optimize my registry but I doubt that will make any change. I was reading http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-3074.html
I'm still clueless.

If you are using Comcast I just checked with them and they said they are having problems with that website and are working on it--if you are using them I would contact them so they know more than one person is having a problem

Yes I am using Comcast. They've rearranged their homepage....which I don't particularly care for, but oh well,...I hope this gets resolved. If I'm not the only one who seems to have been booted! Kicked off!! then I suspect it's a technical problem somewhere. What I find unusual is I've always gotten it before...no problems, popped onto the screen in less than three seconds when their icon was clicked. I'll try calling comcast. Thanks for your insight.

You're probably using some sort of protection suite like McAfee Security Center or Norton's etc. The firewall may be blocking that particular site.

I had a problem with McAfee where I couldn't access my employer's website. This happened after an update from McAfee because I was able to get in to the site, and then after the update, I couldn't. I had to go round and round with McAfee support but was finally able to restore access.

Thanks John....I had not thought of that. I've got Norton Security set up to update automaticaly, so if there was a change and the sight was suddenly blocked, I'd never know it. Also, I called Comcast to see what was up on their end and the lady said all is clear...she could get the website and they don't block websites for any reason. She assured me the problem is with RCG or my computer.
Joe...are you using Comcast and Norton Security? There's got to be something to this we're overlooking.

Go figure !! I just checked my program control setting on Norton and it's not blocking anything. It's allowing every site available to come through....so it's not that. My guess, at this time, is it's out of our hands- there's nothing we can do. If it comes back one day then all the better. I'm not chalking up a big loss here because honestly, I wasn't really in love with the site....THIS ONE IS SO MUCH BETTER and has a much bigger audience. I'm just aggrivated that this happened and it seems I have no control over it happening somewhere ele with another site much more important. Lets keep this thread going until we get this resolved.

I tried disabling McAfee too. That didn't work. Only when I completely uninstalled the program could I gain access. I don't know if you want to go through all that but there is the info.
