Hi all you classic pattern folk,

It was suggested I post my question / wish list here, with the hope someone here can help.

I own a mid-80's OPS Super .60, FIRE, purchased in Germany, gold head, with low time on it and that runs like a dream. I think this is what is sometimes called the three port engine, IOW the pattern version, versus the 5 port high performance version. I am about to build a twin, a Duallist .60, and I would like to find a mate for my engine. Anyone out there have a decent example they are interested in parting with? Mine likely has about two hours flight time on it, so I am not looking for a beater.

Also, I understand at one point there were aftermarket liners, pistons, etc. available, and these were still around I could always retrofit one or both if no other alternative existed. Or at least I'd like to know if they are still available.

Thanks!

MJD

WHERE on earth do you find aftermarket pistons/cylinders/rods etc. for ANY kind of OPS engines????

I just happen to have 3 of the OPS .60 FIRE high performance models, a couple of .80 Ducted Fan engines, and even a 60cc Twin Maxi RCA. They are all really top quality engines, but it seems that OPS has completely vanished.

I'd like to know if, how, or where you can find parts............................

Dave

There are a few places that import the OPS marine line. Contacting them might lead to something. Is this the engine?

That looks like mine, yup!

davemilw07: As to parts, I guess I should have phrased it as "I understand that years ago there were aftermarket liners and sleeves etc..." because you're right, my information goes back a ways.

MJD,
I have an OPS 60 Super new in the box, never been run. It's got the gold head and rear exhaust. Is this what you are looking for?

Doc.. I don't think that the OPS plugs are still available.. You can use Novarossi plugs which are very good

much of the .60 engines parts from picco interchange with ops, for those who arent aware of this... the "p" in ops split and became picco engines, get your digital calipers out and measure your sleeves, picco is still arround and the boat sleeves will work just fine. as far as plugs go picco has good plugs as well, i own quite a few rossi's etc and use rossi and K&B1L plugs for pattern with excellent results, for your twin use five percent nitro and enjoy, make sure your mufflers have adequate back pressure, if you are not using pipes.
