I've got an MRC 960. Sometimes, when plugging in recently used batteries to the 960 while the 960 is _not_ plugged in, it will give a voltage around 7.5V. However, as soon as I plug in the 960 to an AC outlet, the voltage reading will drop about 1V to around 6.5V. Why is this? The only thing I can think of is that when plugged in the 960 puts more stress on the battery, and therefore my problem occurs. The "sometimes" factor just depends on how used the battery is.

The only problem with this is that after about 1-2 minutes of charging at any rate, using 30mv as delta peak threshold (it must be adjusted, as it will give 25mv if the battery is reading around 6.5V), the 960 peaks at around 7.2-7.5V. You must press the "Start" button once again, and then charging completes normally.

Sorry for the delay in my reply, I was in Chicago for a week for the iHobby show, and am now trying to get caught up. I'm not quite sure why you see the voltage difference when you first plug in the battery, and then the charger. Then ones I have here don't show any voltage difference when plugged in that way. As for the initial false peak, hit the display select button a few times until you see a 2 digit code followed by an "m" in the bottom right corner of the screen. You might be seeing a "01 m". My feeling is that the charger is seeing a large initial rise in the voltage in the battery, and that's why it's shutting off. From the 7.2 - 7.5 volts, it doesn't shut a large rise when the charge is initiated as it does from the 6.5 volts. Let me know what you find.

Hey, no problem, glad you're providing support .

Tried pressing the "Display" button a bunch of times... no numbers/letters anywhere. The problem happened again. It's happening to me on a battery that was used until the truck was moving very slowly. The battery then sat for a few days. I plug the battery into the 960 while the 960 is not plugged in. The 960 gives the voltage, and all of the digits aren't as dark as when the charger is plugged in. I plug the charger in, and the voltage reading drops over 1V. I then try to charge the battery, but the charger false peaks within 1-2 minutes.

No big deal, just curious why it happens.
