Thank you for the information posted. As my next project will like to try a jet power boat. I am looking at the Dumas SK boats (either 27" or 36" with a flat bottom but only 3-4" on transom. Can I adapt a jet unit to such a boat? which unit would you recomend Graupner, KMB? what size unit? Help appreciated it. thanks

welcome to the thread . i tock a look at those hulls im not sure how they well go with a jet drive but it looks like you have just enof room for the 29mm drive from grumpner . i would go with the 27" hull this drive will have plenty of power for it . im not sure if it would push the 36" to well but it does do a go job with a 31" i personly like the vee bottom sk hull its 19" if my nitro jet vee works out . i mite be building it with a .18 and the mini jet drive . here is some pic for every on the first is the 36" and the sec is the 19" that i like

graupner:
Cheap. less flow. Less thrust. Cheap.

KmB:
Expensive. Best of the Best. You pay for what you get.

they both have pros and cons . kmb is a great drive you do pay more then what you get motly in shipping . and you cant water cool like you can from the grumpner . the grumpner is a lot cheaper then the kmb. there more lighter dudy drive but you can water cool and the cost of shipping and the price of the drive is a lot less then the kmb . but quick should chime in since he has had both drive

I just dont think KMB's are all that. I've explained my view on this several times(in this thread even), every time getting more condensed.

Really theyre both cheaply made, basically the same design and I just dont get how anyone can say there's a difference in thrust. Unless you've got something to back such a statement with, it's utter bs. The impellers are almost identical, other than the diameter.

The only thing I like about the KMB drives over the Graupner is the bearing on the motor side and the built in motor mount. However, when I'm throwing 16cells of power through a 700sc motor, I doubt that bearing does much.

I just did a cost comparison. If you live in the states, it will cost you roughly $123 US to get a 28mm KMB drive. A graupner unit(29mm) will run you just about half that $65. You could buy two graupner drives for the price of a KMB. Add to this the ability to replace a Graupner impelller and I cant see one valid reason to buy a KMB drive.....

I could go further but I've already said it before.

I feel the statement made earlier was unfounded and ignorant.
