its not so much the exchange rate which is pretty good right now, but postage costs I think - and a bit of local extortion. I paid $300 for my TF P47 as well and believe me that was the cheapest by far! others where at least $130 more!

every single part I needed to build this plane i ordered from tower hobbies in the US and it worked out cheaper shipping it overseas (except the kit would have been about $300 anyway) than buying it anywhere in australia - particularly all the robart stuff...

hope you'll keep posting progress - I am in the middle of a slow build myself of this plane here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=861095#post9715250 so hope we can share ideas as we go....
