Kmot,

Okay...thanks for clearing that up. I don't mind signing a check to a new company starting out and they're honest. I think I'll watch what they do with 'their own line of planes' since we can safely say this would seperate them from the rest.
BTW...still no distributor / dealer info with possibly their own pricing. Can anyone help here?

The above post was submitted just before I hit my enter key to submit mine. Cheers to Blazing Wings for explaining / answering a lot of our questions,,,

Dear Blazing wings , many of the planes on your site appear to be from the Flymodel factory . I have been into warbirds for about 5 years and noticed that there are many online brands but it seems the money trails always goes back to "China Model Products and Flymodles . Having purchased the exact planes from both I have to say that CMP is far superior in the warbird area .
The FW listed on your site appears to be the Flymodels version as does the Hellcat . No big deal either way but the flymodel planes are sold all over e-bay at very very low price .
I purchased a Hellcat for $69 plus $35 in shipping in January 2007 (won it on bid )
The good news is that CMP has discontinued the FW , so if your actually selling that warbird you will have the only one is the USA , Nitro RC is out of it as well
I also know that CMP will only distribute thru Nitro RC , AK and GSP will no longer have distribution rights for CMP planes . So I am assuming agian that your warbirds are not CMPs but all made by Flymodels
Can you confirm please and also comment on the FW

Just curious as to why the profile for "Blazing-Wings" as you can see at this link: http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/profile.cfm?memid=350919§ion=profile&forum=1 shows they have only four (4) posts, and all in this thread, but none of their posts actually show in this thread? The last post was supposedly on 11/21/2007 at 11:46:43: AM, but looking at the thread string, the last and most recent post was 10/28/2007 1:39:54 AM by "outacontrol41".

Just curious, has anyone heard anything from these guys?

Jon

I've heard from Andreas, who has just moved here to San Antonio and I have been told that I am welcome to come by, just call a day in advance. I've been looking around the internet for a 50CC sized Katana with a specific paint scheme, and the first place I've seen it is on the Blazing Wings site. I'm hoping to get some time to drop by for a visit and to welcome them to San Antonio, I'll tell you what I find there. In fairness, I was told that the stock has been arriving and that they are looking for a new place to operate out of. I'm not so caught up in whether they are brand new or still trying to grow, I've seen my share of these businesses and know what it will take to grow. This is a fickle industry, you can't wing it and hope for the best. But he might be trying to find the right situation so he CAN grow, that might be why he has moved here. San Antonio TX is certainly a great city for a business to grow in, a very business-friendly city.
If anybody else has seen the 50CC Katana that Blazing Wings shows on their site in any other place, please let me know.

Jim

Yes, these airplanes seem to be the same old China Model Products type seen
on ebay and various other websites. I wouldn't think this is a new ARF manufacturer, but
rather a distributor similar to Nitro Models or AK Models.

I didn't ask if "these" are the same models seen on various other websites. I asked if the Katana was seen anywhere else. I'll take that as a no. WalMart sells the same Chinese stuff everybody else sells, that doesn't seem to be a problem for anybody, the parking lots are always full, so I'm baffled as to why it's such a sin for somebody to sell the same stuff seen elsewhere. Service, response, and turnaround time, whether the items are in stock, now THOSE are relevent issues. But I didn't ask about THAT either. I asked if the Katana is being sold in other websites. I can't find it anywhere else, so the point here is that "these" 50CC Katanas are NOT the same stuff being sold on various other websites. Certainly on none of the sites I've been able to find so far.

As far as I can tell, the only thing this company has done wrong so far is that it hasn't grown really big yet. No bad reviews, no real negative comments. They do sell some stuff that others also sell, which by the way 90% of all the others also do. I buy Wild Hare models, I'll bet you that the same place builds them for Wild Hare. Or a place just like it builds them for Wild Hare.

It's a total Non-issue as far as I'm concerned. Everybody hated ARFs 15 years ago, now the hobby is FULL of high-quality, well-built ARFs. This Katana looks good, I want to see what it looks like up close and personal. Eventually somebody will have one and/or write a review on it. If I can get some time Friday I'm going there, see what's happening. Sounds like a fun thing to do.

Well, I stopped by and he has a good selection and many types of models. He's a very nice guy and obviously trying to get things going. Afterward we went out and around San Antonio and checked out one of the local new fields. As far as the business goes, typical startup conditions, he's been doing it on a small scale for some time and my estimation is that it's steady but not really growing. If you order something you'll get it, just make sure it is in stock. If it isn't, he'll tell you and you can order it and wait, he also can make them with a custom color scheme just for you. I didn't find out what those costs would be.

However....

I took a look at a very nice Yak 54 (50CC) he had, and was giving it some thought afterward. I was pretty sure I'd seen it at Aeroworks, and I was right. here's where the however comes....once I looked at the Aeroworks Yak 54, I saw that it had a TON of hardware and finishing touches already done, like preassembled surfaces that are already glued, and the price on it is like 50 dollars less. And probably the most important item of all, the Aeroworks Yak 54 appears to have an 80-page COLOR manual for assembly, or at least an 80-page download available (I read through the whole thing) which is very comprehensive. The Blazing wings Yak has a photocopied handful of pages which I looked through. Looked like 2nd or 3rd generation photocopy quality, if you know what I mean.

So, Aeroworks is really far ahead here, although these might be China Models, they are not all equal and some distributors demand more from China Models and charge US....the modelers... less. That puts Aeroworks far ahead at least in this comparison, where they win hands down. In fact, I've decided to start scrounging around and try to scrape up $700.00 to get that Yak from them!

As far as Blazing Wings is concerned, I wouldn't be concerned about his honesty, he is genuinely in business, but his pricing is a little high right now. We'll see what the future brings.

So, there ya go, guys.

Jim
