Hi Guys,

Does anyone have this plane yet? I saw they are in stock at Tower Hobbies and was wondering if anyone got one from a LHS. I'm going to swing by our local shop tomorrow to see if they have one in stock.

Up to this point, most of my models have been scale aerobatic planes w/ 2-stroke engines. I'm itching to build a scale warbird with retracts, flaps, and a 4-stroke. I think this will be the one

Tower just received theirs I think. I received the email notification that they had them in stock just last night and ordered it about 2 hours ago. I've been holding out for this plane for about 6 months now. Mine is getting a Saito 1.20.

HI,
I too have one of these on order from Tower. Deleviry is expected May 27. Has anyone received theirs yet? I wanted to see the new retracts Top Flite switched to. I looked on the online Assembly manual but the photos for the gear and wing assembly have been cropped to not include any view of the gear itself. Only the strut, wheels and doors are shown. I have the Hangar 9 P-51 and the model is a great flyer but the gear is very week and great care must be taken durning taxing, take off and landings. Normal turns result in the gear legs flexing to the point that the wingtip almost drags. I talked with Top Flite at Toledo and redesigning the gear is why the model had not been realesed as palned. Top Flite is aware of the Hangar 9 gear complaints and does not want this Mustang to have the same problems. So if anyone has theirs and can post some pics that would be great.

I beleive they increased the wire size to 3/16th. the H( has the 5/32 and it is too weak. nevertheless, wire struts are not advisable on this bird and I intend to move to air retracts with robostruts (660) 7/16 and the RS550 immediately and avoid having the plane dancing on a grass runway. Wire struts are just another bother I dont need.

It's not just the strut size/diameter it is also the type of materal it is made out of. Hanger 9 is not real music wire but a more flexable metal and also the gear mechanism as well. Nylon flexes carbon filled nylon flexes a little less. They need to be made of metal. What ever happened to QUALITY?

Hey, Got mine today, I looked at the new gear. Looks like they do have 3/16 struts but the housings are cheep Plastic. Don't know how they will hold up on a hard landing. Can't tell if the Gear housing has any nylon componants or if it is just plastic. However the rest of the model is top notch. Even the Spinner is solid aluminum and painted including a prop adapter nut. if they had included one of this quality with my 1/5 scale P-51 arf it would not have failed. The rest of the construction is great as well. The wing is fully sheeted on both top and bottom no open areas with the ribs exposed as with my Hangar 9 P-51. Control surfaces even have scale hinge lines including counter ballances on the rudder and eleviator. The stab and fin are airfoiled not flat framed up slab style.
More later when I get back after the holiday.

Just signing up for the thread, I just got one on order with the OS 91 II. Can't beat the package deal and it sounds like the 91 should fly this plane around fine.
