I think you can ask peakmodel for the replacement part, the one time i needed one edge 25% cowl, they ordered the part from the manufacter.

good comment about the spares, I didn't think of that. Have you flown it with the OS 120 yet? Is that 2 or 4 stroke? Would be very interesting too hear about the performance with this engine.

Cheers guys!

I did contact them, they told me they dont have any spare parts. I asked them to check with manufacturer
to see if they can order it and have not heard back from Peak. I just mounted the OS 120. It is a 2 stroke
as soon as I fly ot I will let you know.

The OS 120AX is awesome in this plane. Performs great. I flew 3 tanks through it this evening.

Coo, that's great news! I am very close to pulling the trigger on one of these if they still have them in this shop today, been looking at a lot of planes and I like the weight and the big surfaces this one has.

Jose: You stated 3750g AUW less fuel on your extra, was that with or without the spinner and spats? I noticed that you didn't have them on in the video...

The weight was complete, my spiner was carbon fibar (very light) and the whell pants are also very light,
in my first day flying the extra, i had a hard landing because of the cross wind and the landing gear suport block colapsed, and this also damaged the whell pants, that is why some videos does not show then installed.

Jose,

Thanks for your reply! I am just trying to get as good view of what my final weight is going to be, so I don't end up with too little power for the airframe. My Saito weighs I believe around 250g more than your YS110 and I seriously doubt it has got the same amount of power. The engine has only been run say 15 tanks, but it is about 10years old now...so I don't think it is a powerful as the newer Saito 125.

However, from the video yours did seem to pull out of hover VERY well so maybe I will be ok...

Thanks again!

Johan

I think you will be fine with the saito 120, if you feel you need more thrust, you can use the apc 16x4w, other thing good is that the saito you can always put more nitro, and get more power.

Jose,

I ran my Saito today with a 16x6 prop to get some readings with my friends Tower-hobbies tacho...hmmm...the readings were fluctuating A LOT! Not sure about those tachos...

Anyway, what RPM do you get with your YS110 with a 16x6? That would really give me a good pointer on what I can expect in performance with this plane and my engine.

Thanks a bunch!

Johan

I was geting 9500 rpm with the apc 16x6 prop using wildcat 20x20 fuel.

What is the top RPM you get on the saito 120?

Thanks for the info. Well, unfortunately the tacho wasn't working very well, but I might try again tomorrow....read something about that you need to turn the plane 90degrees cause of sun interfering with the way it gets the inputs.

Basically, I believe it will be a bit under 9000 with the saito on 16x6. What do you think? I can't seem to find the total weight (incl muffler) of the YS110 Do you remember it? Mine weighs 960 ~34oz...

Thanks yet again!

Jose,

Just did another check with the tacho, readings were still fluctuating, but 9030 seemed about right. It might have been leaned a bit too much but was still getting a fair amount of smoke so I would guess on say 8700-8800 with the APC 16x6 on 10% nitro. 20% would give another say 2-300?

What do you think of the performance on the Extra with that? How much does the YS110 weigh including muffler?

Cheers bud!

I do not have either the aiprlane or the engine anymore, sorry.

You can find information on the ys engines here:

http://www.centralhobbies.com/engines/ys/ysengines.htm#YS%20FZ-110

I think you will be fine with the saito 120 in the extra , if i were buying this size plane i would buy the 25% extra 260 from peakmodel, i prefer this over the extra 330l, more wing area and better for your heavy engine.

Jose.
