jose_ribeiro -> Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (10/26/2007 4:33:17 PM)

This is the peakmodel Extra 330L 25%

My setup:
YS110 FZ-s engine
MG995 cheap servos x5
APC 16x6 prop
peakmodel carbon fiber 3" spinner
6v 1400mah hidrimax battery

Ready to fly les fuel weight = 3750 with above setup

http://www.peakmodel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_16&products_id=463&zenid=a8226d7e7528fe795fcaece4ff7e1237

Specification:
Wing span:68''(1730mm)
Length:64''(1630mm)
Wing area: 915sq in (59sq dm)
Flying Weight: 8.6-10 lbs(3900-4500g)

Teste flight was perfect!!!

Extreme control response, very very light wood and construction, the downside is the fragility but planes are made to fly right!!!

Jose;
I like your video and your flying. I have been looking at the Peakmodel planes. I was going to get the SPE26cc gasser, but the power of the YS 110 looks perfect.

Very nice Jose

As you know I have the Peakmodel Extra 260 with a SPE40 in it but I feel its too much engine for the light frame these people make. A 26cc or glow engine would have been a better match.

However I also have in a box a Peakmodels Extra 330L 25%!![:D] This one is getting a 1.20 2 stroke and Specktrum digital servos (thanks to eBay) and Li-Io pack with a regulator for longer flight times.

Is the YS110 you are using the new FZ110S?

Cheers mate

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (12/13/2007 9:46:20 PM)

I agree the SPE40 would be to much power and weight in this light 25% airframes.

It is the ys110 FZ-S, new version, provides excelente power, but the glow mess is the downside...

Jose.

RoysterDW -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (12/13/2007 10:19:04 PM)

Well thats the good thing about the 400cc only minimum mess. I am planing on putting the 40cc into a Hanger 9 Extra 260 27% which a club member is selling. It normally has a DA50 in it but was told its bit heavy for it so the SPE40 should be perfect match.

I have a YS110 as well which is going into a GP Venus II. Looks like a great engine and very popular.

dashunde -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/23/2008 5:55:47 PM)

Anyone know how the Edge540 does with the 40cc? (Is there a seperate thread for the 540? I have not found one yet.)

I'm taking a serious look at the Peak/Cermark 260.
I think the 26cc is "good" in Jose's videos, but I would prefer a bit more pull-out power.... and that is making me wonder if any of the other planes (330,540,Yak, etc) would haul the 40cc better.

I'm also considering the Su / 26cc combo with standard'ish servos - more of a super-cheap, but fun sport/aerobatic plane... followed by a Brillelli 46cc / EF Yak combo about 6 months later.
Sitting here with money in hand... and cant decide what to do.

playntraffic -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/23/2008 8:02:06 PM)

Jose is using a YS110 not a 26cc gas. Pull out with the YS 110 is great. I couldn't imagine needing any more power. I bought this combo based on Jose's video.

The EF/Brillelli is very nice too. I would go that route if I did it over. Going through a gallon of CoolPower 30% in a weekend sucks.

RoysterDW -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/23/2008 8:59:21 PM)

I have the Extra 260 25% with a 40cc and I regret buying it with a SPE40. Not only has the motor been troublesome but its too heavy for such a very light airframe. Yeah power is insane but there is point where too much power is not good if its not matched up to the airframe.

I am building another 25% (Extra 330L) and this time its getting a 1.20 2 stroke glow and power to weight will be far better than the 40cc. Unfortunately the 25% size is difficult as its a bit too small for a gasoline engines and if you go with a large glow engine you are forking out on glow fuel, hence why I went no bigger than 1.20 in glow.

If you want to go gas save your money and buy a 28% Edge or Extra and add a DA50 or DL50. I have a 28% Wild Hare Extra 300LX Wild Hare with a DA50 and is awesome!

I am now considering pulling the 40out of the Extra 260 and selling it to fund the new Comp ARF YAK55 SP [:D]

dashunde -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/24/2008 1:56:05 PM)

Yea Playntraffic, the video listed above is the fz110, I was talking about Jose's Extra260/26cc video... it looks like it flys nice, but not over-powered by any means.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l7kIrdovv4

Honestly, I think I'm going to pass on these 25%'ers.
Go 40cc... its overweight. Go 26cc... its slightly underpowered. Go with large glow... it will drink you poor.

As attractive as these Peakmodels/Cermarks are for their size & price, I think I'll probably go with a Fliton 330 / Saito 100 combo.
I've already got the radio gear for that size and even if I wipe out the 330 the saito will easily move on to the next project, and there are TONS of planes for that motor.

As for gas, I think I'll wait a bit and probably go straight to the EF/Brillelli combo... or something similar.
(Too bad... I really did want to get a small gasser next)

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/24/2008 2:51:51 PM)

For all you guys searching a good engine 25% combination, i highly recomend the evolution 26gt2 in the all 25% airplanes peakmodel sells, matched to a 18x6 wood or a 17x8 apc prop this engine is very good in that models.

For those who want to save money, the best option is the peak 26 + extra 260 25%, if you not have time or do not like mesing with engines , i sugest the os 120AX engine, or spend some more and get the 26gt2 gas.

The yak 25% and edge 25% i think are capable of handling the SPe40 engine, they are the bigest and strongst structure.

Always keep in mind to make light setups, 1 elevator servo (when possible), 1 ruder servo, nimh packs not oversized.

This are very nice airplanes, but you should setup it light to enjoy the most out of.

Jose.

MOTORMAN37 -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/25/2008 2:13:28 AM)

Is it really shipped free to the United states. ALso what kind of covering is it covered with. Is it real Ultracote or China cote.

samtech -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/26/2008 8:00:55 AM)

Jose,
Did your peakmodel come with really beefy and heavy landing gear? I just got a yak and the landing gear is super beefy... and heavy... Mine are strait... I noticed yours are rounded. Are yours heavy? Stock?

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/26/2008 3:46:54 PM)

My extra 330L 25% from peakmodel came with the round 2-piece landing gear, is is not heavy.

Jose

Nice video. The U2 (i think) is pretty nice to. I think this video would be better with metallica[:)]

RoysterDW -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/28/2008 9:57:02 PM)

Jose,

Did you have to trim the bottom of the cowl for it to fit square?

I am placing it over the wood rib to meet with the canopy but it doesn't quite slip over the bottom part of the fuse [&:]

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (1/29/2008 1:53:06 AM)

I do not have the extra anymore (sold to felow) , but looking the pictures and my memory i do not think i had problem fiting the cowl.

But this chinese planes are not 100% exact all times.

Jose.

OK thanks Jose.

I'm sure I'll work it out.

Hope to maiden this week end[;)]

On The Patch! -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 11:16:17 AM)

Hi all,

I ma just wondering how a Saito 1.20 (not 1.25) on 10% nitro would do in this one? The setup would be as light as could and I am looking for enough power to pull out of hover effortlessly.

Any input would be much appreciated!

Sincerely
Johan

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 1:49:34 PM)

I think the saito 120 would be very good match, using a ACP 16x6 prop it should provide unlimited performance.

Jose.

On The Patch! -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 1:57:29 PM)

Hi Jose!

Thanks for your reply. That is great news, but even with only 10% nitro? Would a 15x6 be too small you think? Just not sure what I can get out of the engine with a 16" prop... :)
Is there any negative aspects about this plane? A lot of coupling in K.E?

Thanks for your help!

Sincerely
Johan

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 2:03:03 PM)

No negative points with this plane, it is super, no coupling on K.E..

Try the 16x6, and the 16x4w prop, one of these will be perfect.

Jose.

On The Patch! -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 2:06:00 PM)

Thanks! In your opinion, what would be a good weight for 3D with a Saito 1.20?

Thanks for all your help.

Johan

jose_ribeiro -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 2:09:14 PM)

3800-4000 grams / 8,4- 8,8 lbs - i think is good for the saito 120.

J

hunfifl -> RE: Peakmodel Extra 330L 25% + ys110fz-s (5/7/2008 3:59:13 PM)

I have the plane and it is great the only downfall is you can not get any spare parts. I contacted Peak and they told me no spares.
Do you know who manufactures these planes? I tried Cermerk but they don't manufacture it. I just want a new cowl as I have put an OS 120 in the plane.

Thanks.
