Where are guys mounting the remote needles when using QJ40's with the square backplate mounts? Just wondering.

I have always placed mine on the right side of the fuse behind the side-mounted cylender with the needle sticking up vertical.

I do the same as John.....

Mount it to the side of the fuselage just aft of the engine ... screw it into the firewall, or preferably add a piece of plywood inside of the nose to bolt it to.

See image (a bit fuzzy, but you will get the idea)

Bob - thanks for the picture. I do like the idea of the remote needle - that was one of the nice things about the rear intake F1 engines - the needle valve was way behind the prop.

Does give some comfortable finger room

Also makes it easier to service the fuel tank like this.
