I am building a foam (blucore) plane from scratch and find it is hard for me to cut the 1/4" foam with accurate 90 degree edges. That is, I tend to lean the model knife when going arround curves. This is a problem when joining pieces because there are gaps on one side of the joint because the cuts are not square. I am try to design some sort of tool that will hold an exacto blade perpendicular to the foam surface. It must be small enough to let the user see the line to be cut, but large enough to provide stability.

Anyone crafted such a tool? I was thinking that a wood block about 1" wide, 2" long, and sloped hieght 1/4" to 1". with a slot cut to hold the blade and a pair of blind nuts aon each end with machine thumb srcews to secure the blade. The use could drae this over the foam piece and cut square edges with ease. Any thoughts or designs would be appreciated.

Thanks Huck

Here is a stripper that kinda sounds like what you are proposing, I think.

That Looks About Right. Make a TLAR version of that tool.
or do what Tatoo used to do
Very Carefully Very Carefully embed a blade in a wooden work surface.
Use this blade like a circular saw blade to cut curves.

Use a center pivot (a nail) to help cut perfect circles. Wear gloves! Well almost perfect.

I am currently trying to build a Geobat from the flat foam forum.
Using bluecor and 4MM coro.

Dave

Yes that is what I need except the blade would be turned 90 degrees. I have looked arround quite a bit for a tool; never thought of a stripper! Although the stripper tool may provide better visibility to follow the line of cut.

Thanks for the tip Huck
